Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Then V6 engine.
Cons: No power seat memory.
Advice: Shop several dealers against each other.Great looks, great engine & transmission. Some interior features on the cheap side, but none of the important features. Lots of storage space, great drink holders. A great family car for the young (and still alive) family.
Pros: 3.5l V-6 screams
Cons: 6 spd shifter is balky
Advice: There is no better performing sedan for the priceThis is the best car I have ever owned. It is fast, comfortable, and gets good gas mileage. Oh yeah, did I mention how fast it is?
Pros: Look of truck
Advice: The gas milage sucks.Have 2001 SC crew cab, driven 17,000 miles thus far. Rides great, have been gawked at by at least 50 people. Gas milage is poor, I avg 16mpg, and I drive like a Floridian. Don't like the fit of the front fender flairs. There is little gap that lets pebbles get behind the flair and get stuck. Dealer agreed the fit was bad, and replaced them with new ones. They are better, but still not a good design. Tires are apt to hydroplane due to tread design and size.
Pros: Accelleration and Gas Milage
Advice: My sales person was excellent but watchout for con artists...BE PREPARED!I am have been a loyal Nissan consumer for almost a decade. My first car was a '86 200sx. My parents bought it for my my 16th b-day. At 156,000+ miles, it is a workhorse. I just bought a '02 Sentra GXE two weeks ago. I am very pleased. For an entry level car it has out performs most of the cars in its class. I would advise anyone who is just starting out like me to strongly consider the Sentra.
Pros: overall performance
Cons: the passenger seat lacks full adjustment
Advice: Drive it to see if it feels goodThis car handles very well at all speeds. The steering is tight and you feel in control at all times. I have a problem with the passenger seat comfort. The next vehicle I buy will have six way control for the passenger seat. I'm a big man and the seat was made for small people. The acceleration is great although from a start up position it leaves me disappointed. Once you are rolling the acceleration is fantastic. The mileage is good and the braking is excellent. My wife drives the vehicle in the city and feels very comfortable with the handling.
Advice: Negotiate vigorously when considering options/features!The 2002 Nissan Altima took my breath away! I tested the 2.5SL model and was amazed that a 4-cylinder could drive so powerfully. The acceleration is fantastic but be careful, it can really get away from you. This year's model is completely redesigned and is more attractive than its higher-priced big brother, the Maxima. The interior cabin is spacious and gorgeous, with soft comfortable leather. Large trunk, fold-down back seats. The new design is as stylish as some of the higher-end foreign cars such as the Audi A4 or VW Passat. I'm impressed to say the least.
Pros: Leg room both in front and in back
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
Advice: If you want a 5 speedDrive this car and love this car! Don't let the salesperson pitch you on the 4 cylinder. Get the 6 cylinder with the 240 hp. It's definitely worth it! I had a 97 Jetta prior and loved that car. I was considering getting a 2002 Jetta but they just don't have the horsepower. You want speed? Get the 3.5 SE!
