    2004 Nissan 350Z - Base (M6) Coupe

    Pros: COMFORT OF THE COCKPIT

    Cons: PAINT JOB

    Advice: Buy a 2005 or above

    Very difficult to change the oils yourself. Nissan does not make it easy. Nissan could have used a hardier paint and chips way too easily. Tires do not wear evenly and it is a painful process to get a new sound system installed. Wish Nissan would have used more quality materials inside the cockpi. Other then these qualms, I LOVE my 350Z!! It is a pleasure to drive every day and it purrs like a kitten.

    Pros: the looks

    Cons: Only has 2 seats!!

    Advice: Car is great, fast, fun, and extremley awesome looking but if you dont like 2 seaters not the car for you.

    2004 Nissan 350Z - Touring (M6) Roadster

    Pros: Convertible Top is simple and so quick.

    Cons: When the top is up you do have blind spots, drive safely.

    Advice: Make sure you are aware of how small and sporty this car truly is.

    I've installed new exhaust for a deeper more throaty sound.Also, have put Eibach Springs Pro Kit which settled the car 1' in front and 1.5' in rear.I have Bridgestone Pole Position S03's 245/35/19 on front and 285/30/19 on rear.I have 3 piece Kaotic rims and a Bullit Grill on front.This car is not for everyone, make sure you are in the market for a true sports car because this rides,handles,feels,looks and runs as a sports car all the way. I have really had a blast with it and look forward to adding more goodies in the future. No complaints and maintainence on this car is minimal.

    Pros: The automatic/standard 'flip' transmission.

    Cons: The smell from the transmission.

    Advice: Maybe THE best for the dollar. If you like convertibles, spend the extra $ for the Roadster!

    My stepson was in front of me in his Corvette (1999) zipping down the curvy mountainous road previously named 'Tail of the Dragon' by some intuative would be NASCAR driver. The TOD has 318 curves in eleven North Carolina miles, and is quite a test course to pinpoint any flaws you might have in your car's ability to deal with the road. He had told me to just leave my auto transmission in second for optimal control, but the Z was so manueverable I felt 3rd was needed at times. My wheels stuck to the ground like no other car I'd ever driven. The Z felt like a part of my legs and arms, while the engine kept me plastered safely against the seat back. And my car was just a six? That was hard to believe. I could see the 'Vette in front of me braking before the severe turns, but the Z seemed only to want permission for more power and just moved with the rest of my body around the turns. Once through, my acceleration took me to the 'Vette's bumper on every turn it seemed. Although my Son was a good driver his 'Vette looked 'heavy' in the turns, lacking the nimbleness I was experiencing (even though the Z was about 300 lbs heaver than the 'Vette). Down we went. Acceleration until I got to the 'Vettes bumper, braking for a turn that produced a little BBQ smell from my transmission. Then acceleration and steering through the turns, and quick acceleration before the road again became a curve. Oh, better stay in your lane, too. Cycleists were coming from the opposite direction as well as from the rear. It was probably the most exhillerating drive I've ever had, down that mountain and around it's curves and beautiful scenery that took second place only to handling the car. At the end, guess what! I had stayed on that 'Vettes bumper for eleven miles! So now I know a little more about the tortoise and the hare; only my turtle was as manueverable as a minnow, as responsive as a fast tabby cat, and had the speed of a cheetah! What a ride!

    Cons: Notchy tranny. Involved oil changing. Lack of front glove compartment.

    Advice: Check other owners complaints on the 350z bulletin boards. If you can live with them then this maybe the car then this maybe the sports car

    Harsh ride,but you should expect this as its a sports car, so buyer beware. As a result of the agressive suspension setup it handles like its on rails. Some of the switch controls are awkward, and could have been better thought out. An example would be the headlight on/off control stalk. Instead of pushing the control away from you it should be pulled 'snapped' toward you to turn the headlights on and off. A much more natural motion. It definitely needs a front glove compartment, as folding the seat forward and reaching back to the storage bin gets old. Some of the interior build and trim work seems flimsy ,but overall quality is ok to good. Gas milage is ok ,but not spectacular considering its a v-6. Acceleration is great all the way to 4th gear. Whats supprising is you still have some 'go' in 5th as well, which is nice on the interstate. 6th is definitly cruising gear. Somewhat of a blind spot when backing up or lane changig from the rear hatch pillars ,but you just have to watch your mirrors. Transmission is nice but is notchy. Mine tends to be rough from 1st to 2nd ,but no grinding.This goes away for the most part as the tranny warms up. Changing the oil is not hard, but you have to remove 12-14 bolts and pull away a cover to get at the oil filter/drain plug. A pair of RHINO ramps will be needed. Last but not least the sound system is terrible. Come on Nissan. In a car of this cost this system is not much better than a cheap transistor radio from the 60's. Replacing the front speakers will be the first chore for anyone who wants their listening experince to be more than harsh tinny sound. No depth at all in this system. A few notes: 1.Front tire noise and premature wear. Possibly due to incorrect front suspension setup? Maybe front suspension design flaw, or nature of the beast due to a agressinve suspension setup. 2.Transmission grinding issues reported by other owners. 3.Lack of good service depts,or service depts that dont seem to care about customer concerns. 4. Paint that seems to easily chip. 5. Nissan slow or seeming lack of concern to address these problems beyond the 2003 model year.

    I bought a 2004 350z roadster. The car is a very nice looking car and very fast however the compliments stop there. I have 13000 miles on the car and like many others the car has a tire alignment issue which Nissan refuses to acknowledge. Multiple times have I been to the dealer to have them correct the problem and they refuse. I took the issue to NNA however they have done nothing. In addition the dash rattles and the convertible top is showing signs of streaching around the rear window.

    Cons: Premature Tire Wear, cupping, feathering, growling noise

    Advice: The tire wear issue is severe. Nissan claims it only applies to the 2003 model, and will not cover it, however, my 2004 has the exact same problem as the 2003.

    The 2004 350Z Roadster is a great drivers car with a major flaw (very major): premature front end tire wear. While Nissan acknowledges the problem for its 2003 models, they claim that the exact same tire wear issue (uneven wear, cupping, and feathering which causes a loud 'growling' noise in the front end) does not apply to 2004 and later models. Unfortunately, that is not true, so expect to replace tires every 2k to 5k miles at $200 each tire.
