2004 Volvo S80 - 2.5T FWD
Pros: Smooth Drive
Cons: All of the repairs
Advice: I would not buy this vehicle again.I was very excited to buy this car because of Volvo's past reputation and a friend recommended it highly. At approximately 7000 miles I started taking it to the shop, which is fortunately only 2 miles from my workplace. It has 3 motors and 2 fans associated with the heating system, and it needs another one. The engine mount had to be replaced at fairly low mileage and at least 7 or 8 light bulbs have burned out on this vehicle. The gas hinge quit working and two door gaskets failed. Prior to this purchase, I had Acuras, Hondas, and Toyotas (7 total). All of these together did not have the number of problems that I have had with the Volvo. I will return to a Japanese manufacturer for my next purchase. Never again with Volvo. Very disappointing experience, especially for such an expensive car.
2007 Volvo S80 - FWD
Pros: AC controls, keyless ignition. impressive stereo.
Cons: Rear tail light design.
Advice: Go with the 3.2. Plenty of power and torque for city and highway cruising. After driving and considering a number of other autos including: BMW 5, Lexus GS, Infiniti M and MB E350 I chose the Volvo S80 3.2. While each car had 1-2 oustanding points, the Volvo felt like a better all around car and offered the best value. Volvo has really come a long way in the past few years with both interior and exterior design. Materials are top notch and seating is about the most comfortable I've found in this class (I'm 6' 2'' 210lbs). Handling is quite capable, but not as impressive as some other makes. Controls are simple and straight forward. Infiniti was nicest of all, but limited dealer network was a major downside. If you're looking for a comfortable 'family of four' cruiser this is it.
2006 Volvo S80 - FWD
Pros: Front Drivers Seat
Cons: Overall quality of interior specs
Advice: Check EVERYTHING out before you buy. Look at Audi. The overall drive of the vehicle is smooth, however, it sometimes lags when pushed to access the freeway onramp. Overall comfort is just OKAY. The interior does lack internal storage space and the cupholders are not placed conveniently. The plastic around the locks keep coming loose and the moonroof leaks when I take it through the automatic carwash. For me, its the little things that take away from the overall satisfaction. Not the quality I expected for the price.
2006 Volvo S80 - AWD
Pros: I feel REALLY SAFE in it!
Cons: There is very very little interior storage space - places to stash my stuff!
Advice: Enjoy it !Very comfortable, as long as you're in the front seats! Not a lot of rear leg room, although this is the largest of the Volvo sedans. My husband is 6'5' tall, so we consider this a 'three-seater vehicle.' Peppy and responsive, as long as you factor in the typical turbo-lag from a full stop. Mine has 3,000 miles on it, and I'm averaging 20 mph around town.
2006 Volvo S80 - FWD
Pros: THE LOOK
Cons: I Just broke the cup holder, CHEAP CITY
Advice: Don't buy the first model year, it take Volvo 3-4 years to get their vehicles to run like a HondaAs a former S80 2000 T6 owner, 16 times in the shop, all major parts replaced, ETM nightmare and stalled on the freeway three times, You are probably wondering why I even bothered to buy this car again. BUT, I drive 25k miles per year, its a very comfortable car and I feel safe in it. It did help alot the dealer gave me 10k off the sticker price otherwise it was a Honda Accord. Anyway, I'm happy with it, definitely not as powerful, but I'm happy to get rid of the 2000 beast I traded in. My odometer is at 1k and I hope to make it to its first servicing without it breaking down or stalling on the freeway. Volvo of Pleasanton, CA ROCKS. Never mind all the mechanics drive Nissan and Hondas. :)
2006 Volvo S80 - FWD
Pros: The styling/look of the vehicle.
Cons: It's not as quite on the inside, with windows up and doors close, as I would expected it to be.
Advice: For those of you that want the look, more for your money, saftety and comfort this is it!The test drive was good and it handles very well.
2002 Volvo S80 - T6
Pros: the car has a great appearence
Cons: tons of service problems, is in the shop almost every two weeks.
Advice: DO NOT buy this car. Every Volvo from 2000 until the present sucks. This car drives great when it is not being serviced at the dealership. It's been in the dealership hundreds of time since it was bought for every kind of weird problem you can imagine. Once, a wheel bearing fell off while the car was turning onto a major highway. Volvo is definitely not what it used to be. It's high-priced and low-quality.
