Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Placement of the controls
Cons: AppearanceThis is my third Avalon, and although I thought I could never match the love I had for my second one, this one exceeds it. The ride is great, the features are excellent, and the entire dash is wonderful. Most controls are at your fingertips on the steering wheel, also. I don't think there is anything that can compete with the value of the Avalon.
Great vehicle all around
Pros: Almost everything comes standard on the limited,it's like a Lexus at a Toyota price.
Cons: The steering is very lightThis car has it all, good performance, good gas mileage on regular fuel, nice smooth ride and handles well.
Pros: Reclining back seats
Cons: Navigation system
Advice: Do not buy the navigation systemThis is the 2nd Avalon we have owned and it is perhaps the best car we've ever owned in terms of comfort, ride, handling and safety. Only negative we have with it is the navigation system is not woirth the price - you're better off buying a portable GPS system for a few hundred bucks and skip paying Toyota over $2000 for an integrted system that is not easy to use. Gas mileage is good, comfort is outstanding and the room inside makes any road trip pleasant. Great car.
Pros: the whole package
Cons: the leather while soft and comfortable is prone to quick stripping if you wear clothes that are not super soft. that is the biggest negative an it is a negative.
Advice: buy one and wear soft clothes, and use tier one fuelit is the finest car i have ever had. i have driven 100k cars and i like this better. i prefer the pre 2005 version. the newer version is more bmw like and very small inside. a problem that makes the new ones too small to fit in. the quiet and ride makes it a great long distance hauler. the power allows you go get out of the way.
Cons: Location of driver side window controls, I keep opening the back window instead of the front
Advice: Buy oneHandles well, rides very smoothly, a great cruising car
Pros: Very quiet.
Cons: gas milage
Advice: Don't expect good gas milage.I own a 2006 highlander hybrid. When I bought the car I was told owners were reporting 40 mpg. My gas milage averages 19-22mpg. The only time my car switches to battery power is when I am stopped or coasting. On level ground I cannot accelerate to any speed, back off the gas....and maintain speed. The service dept. says nothing is wrong with my car. I have requested the regional representative inspect my car.
