Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: You can always see through the top with the sunroof closed.
Cons: No leg room in the backseat. It is not a problem for me because my three dogs ride in the back.
Advice: Go for it! You won't regret it. It's a very solid car.(BMW)Handles great and is a fun car to drive.Very comfortable seats in town and on the road.Great stereo system and CD player.I have owned my 2004 Mini for nine months and have never had a problem.(4,000 miles)
Pros: Power and handling
Cons: lack of rear seat legroom for passengers, CD player should play MP3's.
Advice: Do yourself a favor and buy the S, the extra horsepower is so nice to have!I have had my 05 Mini Cooper S Convertible for about a month now. Talk about drop dead gorgeous, this car is just that! Most of the comments are, 'I didn't know they made a convertible.' Well they do and it's simply a fun and exciting car to drive. I got almost all the options you could get shy of a GPS. My only complaint would be back seat room, I'm 6ft 3in and with my drivers seat sitting back, there is litte to no leg room for a passenger on the driver side. The rear view vision is limited with the top up, and could use something to allow the driver to have a better view of what is behind or to the side, there is a blind spot which does make it a little difficult to navigate in reverse. The Harman Kardon stereo is nice, however this is 2005 and it would be much nicer if the CD player could play MP3's, without having to add a changer or add an auxillary input for a MP3 device. The car has plenty of zip, and hugs corners very well with the DSC. A convertible seems to bring a smile to everyone who see's it and having the option of being a targa or full convertible is very nice.
Pros: It's handling and performance, and of course the top down
Cons: back seat room
Advice: Watch your speedLoved it. Planned to buy a Cooper S, but a bit above the budget, so we settled on the Cooper. But it is still a mover and GREAT fun to drive. Want to get attention? Drive a Mini convertible. People will look and comment in parking lots.
Cons: BMW-like dealer prices
Advice: Go for it!!! also..opt for the sport package with DSCAmazing car! As a certified car nut I followed the development of the 'new' Mini for years. I was on my way home from work when I stopped in to the dealership...30 minutes later I left a deposit and the rest is history. This car is incredible...I had some minor troubles-the infamous airbag light coming on...about 5 attempts to fix...but true to BMW quality a service bulletin came out to replace the wiring harness under the passenger seat...so far,so good-no more trouble. I also notice-maybe my own paranoia that some SUV & minivan drivers like to try to muscle me out on the road... All in all it's been a fun 2 1/2 years with Mini... A word to the wise..definitely get the Sport Package which contains the famous BMW DSC-Dynamic Stability Control...has to be tried to realize how this little device will literally 'save the bacon'!
Pros: View from the front of the car (especially headlights/rally lights)
Cons: getting used to the keyless entry (passenger side)
Advice: Buy it-you wont ever regret itEver been on a roller coaster and wonder how it stays on the tracks on those tight turns?-Well that's what you'll ask yourself in the MINI. I bought the 2005, with cold weather package (not winter yet-so i'll save that review) the panoramic sunroof (a must) and let me tell you, every day you will become more connected with yout MINI. It will be the highlight of your day and especially your night, when the glow of the dash illuminates your MINI. Great gas mileage. and if you build it online you really feel it's all YOURS, from the paint to the parking lights-you design it. Buy it-the MINI is the future!
Advice: Drive it fast .. taked a sharp curve .. don't slow down. The Cooper S Convertible an adult toy! How fun! It performs like a 2 steater sports car with a back seat. We will be buying one soon. The convertible is clever and begs to be driven top down no matter the weather.
Pros: The handling of the car -- excellent steering and suspension
Cons: comfort -- you do feel the bumps, especially at slow speeds
Advice: if you like small cars and like cars that handle well in any weather condition, buy a MiniI purchased a Mini in January, 2004. I am very happy with the handling, gas mileage, and the overall performance. It is an excellent car driving in bad weather -- snow, ice, or rain. It is a fun car to drive, and the design is excellent. All of the controls are easy to access.
