    2004 Lincoln Navigator - Ultimate (220A) 4x4

Pros: ride and handling for a 6000# suv

    Cons: needs more power

Advice: not a good value at list price

The 2004 model is by far the best Navigator to date. Rack and pinion steering has sportscar like feel. Stiffer frame makes the big bumps feel like little ones. Would have preferred a digital clock, hard to read clock hands when going 80 mph in heavy traffic. For the 63,000 price tag Ford could have installed a rain sensor wiper system ,cabin air filter, telescoping tilt wheel, and a few more cupholders in back.

    2004 Lincoln Navigator - Ultimate (220A) 4x4

    Pros: Rack and Pinion Steering

Cons: Engine power - (Not up to par with the Escalade)

Advice: Assure that your Dealer service is on par with other vehicles within this segment

Significant upgrades to both ride and handling versus the previous model (1998-2002). Excellent Interior. Tasteful exterior styling. Initial quality was lacking for a vehicle of this price range/market segment.

    2003 Lincoln Navigator - Ultimate (220B) 4x4

Pros: I love the idea of a middle counsel that act as if you have a stick shift.

Cons: Poor interior lighting and gas consumption

Advice: The Lincoln Nav is a smooth looking vehicle, but be aware that your gas bill will increase drematically.

The only bad part about the 2003 Lincoln Navigator is that it needs more horespower (350hp would be great), add ash trays for passengers, provide a better quality audio system, and definitly add more interior lighting overall. The front passeger side needs a little more room, Moon roof needs to have a rain catch in case you leave it open in a tilted position.

    2003 Lincoln Navigator - Ultimate (220B) 4x4

    Pros: Gimmicky, cheap components

    Cons: Cheap components, poor craftsmanship

Advice: Compare carefully to other luxury SUVs

The ride and overall handling is comparable to other popular SUVs including the Ford Expedition and Chevy Blazer. The materials and craftsmanship are second rate. The sound system used is the same one used in Fords low-end vehicles. The 6 CD 85 watt AM/FM receiver is mass produced by Visteon for Ford and is insufficient for providing quality sound in a vehicle this size. The 9 speakers are mass produced for Ford by a company in Brazil, and the sound quality is on par with low-end vehicles such as the Ford Escort. Most of the other components in this vehicle are the same components found in lower end Ford vehicles. Lincoln engineers must have assumed people purchasing luxury SUV are more concerned with outward appearances than quality components. Overall Review: The Navigator is the Ford Expedition done right, but discerning buyers will quickly recognize the poor craftsmanship and low quality components. The Navigator compares well to other popular SUVs including the Chevy Blazer, GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition in handling, however, the vehicle is significantly more expensive for what amounts to a few style changes. This vehicle should not be considered a luxury SUV because the components used to manufacture the vehicle are substandard and the quality of worksmanship is poor.
