    2010 Lexus IS 250C

    My new car

    Pros: Hard top convertible

Cons: no truck space when the top is down

I just purchased a new 2010 Lexus 250- IS C and it is not only the prettiest car I've ever had; it rides and drives like a dream. It is very comfortable, smooth riding, quiet to the ends and pretty riding down the road. I also enjoy the special attention given when I go back to the local dealership when I need work or a simple car wash.

    2010 Lexus LS 460

    Great with some flaws

Pros: User control simplicity & value

Cons: Driver door noise & lack of driver seat adjustments

I have owned many Lexus cars including 3 LS models. I love the value & simplicity of controls compared to the Germans. I have 2 complaints about this car. First, the driver's side door makes a noise over sudden bumps. The dealership could not fix it & acknowledged it is a design issue, one I find unacceptable in a $70,000 car. Second, the drivers seat does not adjust up enough at the front of the seat cushion. I find it difficult to get the thigh support I want. Again, in a $70,000, you should be able to adjust every section of the seat to a comfortable position. I have the same issue with my son's Hyundai, but that car cost $15,000. Other than that, adjustable suspension & steering effort would be a nice touch in this class car. Creature features & user friendly controls are a plus. The car also costs $20,000 to $30,000 less than a comparably equipped BMW 7, Mercedes S or Audi 8.

    2010 Lexus RX 350

    First Lexus

Pros: There are to many to name but at the top is the Heads Up Display and the Power Folding Outside mirrors.

Cons: A little bit of exhaust note and a little road noise from the 19' tires.

Not new to Toyota but new to Lexus. This is a great car. Quiet , comfortable and a joy to drive. I actually enjoy driving again. Loaded with features and the fit and finish is excellent. Real Wood on the interior. Drive train is smooth and quick. Lot's of room for hauling.

    2010 Lexus RX 350

    A Wonderful SUV

Pros: Smooth ride, bluetooth, plenty of power.

Cons: The car should come equipped with side bumpers to survive parking in a shopping center parking lot without dents.

Drove the car from Florida all the way to Ontario, Canada. Smooth and comfortable ride. I made that trip many times before and always finished the trip with a sore back; not this time.

    2007 Lexus IS 250

    Quality Not There

Pros: The smooth V-6 power train

Cons: Brake dust on the front wheels

Small and large things just not right in this car. Small things like the decal above the cd/disc opening that peels off. Small sqeaks and rattles you wouldn't expect in a $40k car. Then there are the large things like the front brake rotors that are supposed to be replaced every 30K miles that cost $700 each time. That helped to drive up the cost of the normal 30k mile maintenance to $1700 and that was just normal maintenance, nothing wrong with the car. It's very expensive to be in the Lexus 'club.' Then there's the problem with the brake dust that collects on the front wheels. Literally, the worst I have ever seen in any car in my life. Clean wheels would get filthy black in just a few days of normal driving. And the brake dust was caustic and ate away at the expensive alloy wheels. The front wheels are ruined from an appearance standpoint, no amount of polish and rubbing can bring them back. When I tried to address these problems with both the dealership where we bought the car, and with Toyota, they would not return my phone calls or emails. It would seem I fell into the 'disgruntled/no-win' customer category. The car is too expensive and new to just get rid of. At my own expense, I changed the front disc pads to an aftermarket composite material that solved the brake dust problem. I have a good local auto repair place that will do all maintenance so the car will never go back to the dealership. The brake rotors will not be replaced unless they cannot be turned in order to get back in tolerance. Finding ways to live with a car that was supposed to be a pleasure. Oh, and one last jab, the $2k nave system is the very complex and hard to operate. A $100 Garmin works much better.
