    2003 Land Rover Freelander - HSE 4dr

Pros: The standard power, the luxury features, just about everything!

Cons: The placement of the window buttons

Advice: Keep everything in working order, and this car will do wonders for you.

The first time I looked at the Land Rover Freelander, I thought to myself 'How did Land Rover manage to put so much into this car, and yet manage to keep it under 35K?' I thought I was dreaming. But I went to the Land Rover dealership (I live in Orlando) and I talked to them about it and asked them different questions about their car. They were curteous, kind, and more than happy to answer my questions about it. The V6 power, coupled with the standard AWD makes it a pleasure driving. The biggest problem I ever experienced with the car was the speakers on the right side of the car shorted out at a few times, but a quick visit to the retailer corrected it. I also had a bit of a problem with the sunroof cover rattling especially at interstate speeds, but, again, another visit to the dealership corrected it. The customer care was awesome, and I could not have asked for a nicer experience. Thank you Land Rover!

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

Pros: Manual shift in mountain driving

Cons: Air conditioning system is inadequate in 90+ degree weather

Advice: High maintenance - buy a Honda or Toyota

Handling and the solid feel of the vechicle is much better than others. Reliability is not that good. Brakes only last 10K to 15K miles.

    2003 Land Rover Freelander - SE 4dr

Pros: Harmon Kardon 9 speaker sterio and the prestige of owning a Land Rover

    Cons: lack of power

Advice: compare others in the same class before you make a decison

My Freelander is lacking the horsepower that other SUVs in its class has, but after going on an off roading clinic with my Land Rover dealership in my Freelander, it more than makes up for it. I have brought the car back to the shop a couple of times for minor repairs, and it will go back for some more, and my Freelander is less than a year old.

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

    Pros: Off road ability

    Cons: Where do I start?

    Advice: Be careful...

Sorry folks...I thought I had found the vehicle for me, but I have been burdened with so many problems, that I'm seriously considering getting rid of my Freelander. Where do I start...2 burnt headlamps, new transmission, new air fan, squeeky steering wheel and worn out brakes (all in a year and a half). The service in Calgary is great, but the product is very questionable. I can't say it's worth the price. I'm in Canada and don't have a US zip code.

    2003 Land Rover Freelander - S 4dr

    Pros: Sportronic Shifting Mode

Cons: Lack of Sunroof (I only have the base model, though)

Advice: If you need to get through the urban grind Monday through Friday, yet still want to tear up the hills on the weekend...buy the Freelander.

I am a student at UCLA, so the funds situation is usually bleak (I'm talking about Ramen noodles for dinner 4 out of 7 nights a week). So, imagine my surprise when I found that I could get a Land Rover for under 30K. The Freelander makes me feel like a high roller, without having the 401K and trust funds to back up the assumption. The sport shifting on my Freelander S is BUTTERY smooth, and a MAJOR improvement over what I was driving before...a bare bones Toyota Tacoma. The power windows and cruise control are certainly appreciated. This SUV is quick, despite weighing in at almost 2.5 tons. BUY THIS VEHICLE!!! You won't regret it.

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

Pros: Real off road capability with a luxury car ride.

    Cons: Cup holders are il-placed

Advice: Don't believe the sales folks at the other dealerships. Actually look up the service bulletins and complaints at the NHTSA. The Land Rover is proven better.

Real off road capability with a european car ride. The average SUV on the road today is nothing more than a taller station wagon, i.e., Toyota anything. This vehicle on the other hand is a real off roader that has been given the luxuries of a nice car.
