2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

Pros: The Hardon Karmon stereo system

Cons: It was in the shop most of the time

Advice: Don't buy- Go buy a Lexus

Don't buy it. It's junk been the shop for everything. The only thing I could about this car is that the customer service at the dealer is good. I would never buy another landrover again. I should of buoght a used Lexus..

    2005 Land Rover Freelander - 4dr

    Pros: Now I own it...NOTHING!

    Cons: Extreeeeemely sluggish

    Advice: Buyer Beware!...Very Aware!

In all the vehicles I have ever owned this one is the worst! Before you buy, read reviews, as many as you can, they are all true and they are not good! Not only is the vehicle grossly underpowered, anything and everything goes wrong with it and trust me, they will! Once your warranty is over, the multitude of problems and failures will cost you a small fortune to repair as parts and labor are very expensive. Depreciation is MASSIVE and within a short time, the vehicle will be worth just a fraction of what you paid for it. If only I would have done my homework first!

    Pros: Suspension

Cons: Fuel consumption is not bad

Advice: Its been a great car

The great appearance first attracted me to this car, but the test drive sold me, esp. the suspension which is much better than the 'crash-bang' ride quality of other 4x4's. The suspension really soaks up the bumps. The steering has a 'just right' feel, as do the brakes. The engine is smooth too. Last winter we put it to the test, and the 4x4 with four wheel traction control is the best - on serveral trips it was the only 4x4 to make it to the top of a steep icy road. We have 25,000 miles on it and have had no problems. We did not need new brakes at the 24K service. The dealer service has been friendly & professional.

    2002 Land Rover Freelander - S

    Pros: Harmon Kardon Stereo System

Cons: The fact that it is always in the shop...

    Advice: Dont get this car!

I bought this car with 16000 miles on it and have had it for less than 2 months. In those 2 months, I have had the engine replaced, the transmission replaced, about 25 different sensors or company recommended recalls replaced. It has been into the dealership at least every week and sometimes takes more than a week to fix everything that goes wrong. Props to roadside service though, they have been helpful in the 6 times I have needed to use them in 2 months. I would definitely not recommend this car, and am thinking of getting rid of mine already.

    2003 Land Rover Freelander - SE 4dr

    Pros: Interior

    Cons: reliability

Advice: Check out the competitors vehicles...I can't wait till the lease is up

Of all the cars I have owned in the past 20 years, this one has been in the shop more than any of them.....HDC light comes on intermittently...usually there is a tech bulletin about the issue, have had to replace brake pads and rotors at 17,000 miles for $600 ... just not very reliable.....

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

    Pros: heated leather seats

Cons: the REST of the vehicle

Advice: Investigate very carefully whether it has improved significantly since its debut model year.

Test drives great--it's owning one that's a hassle. I don't know about later model years, but I've HAD IT with this car. The car has been to the dealership 4 times for the brakes (pads and rotors replaced 3 times), 3 times for the heat not working, 4 times or the sunroof, 2 times for the driver-side speaker . . .sadly enough, the list goes on! Looks great, rides great, but expect all the nice little options that you pay extra for to break down. Kinda frustrating.

2002 Land Rover Freelander - HSE

    Pros: The comfort

Cons: Too little head room for my spouse.

Advice: Drive it and you're sold!!

Best I have bought, esp. for the price! SO smooth and easy to drive. Love the sound system and luxury feel. Solid feel as well. My husband who is 6'0 ft tall, feels it's a bit of a pain as far as head room goes (esp. getting in and out), and so does my tall teenager--- but it is a wonderful vehicle that I plan on keeping for at least 10 yrs, and the price is WONDERFUL when compared to the other vehicles you would pay the same amt. for. LOVE it!!
