2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

Pros: Styling, interior room, off road king, big pimpn' ride.

    Cons: Nervous about reliability

    Advice: Get your check book

I have only owned this vehicle for 3 days, and 110 miles. I love it. I have heard horror stories about car problems, but I forged ahead anyway. I used to own a VW Jetta (which had more problems than I care to count). Then stepped up to the Audi TT, and even it still had a few problems along the way. Got the Rover, love it, and hope it is a trouble free car.

2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

    Pros: Handling

Cons: Entering and Exiting the Rear Seats.

Advice: Do your homework and you won't be dissappointed buying one.

This is an excellent SUV! It rides and handles like a luxury car and yet has amazing visibility and power. We spent a long time looking over this vehicle before buying because we are a family of four with one still in a car seat. So we new that the back seats are somewhat tight to enter and exit, but still have alot of headroom and visibility due to the stadium type seating. Our son absolutely loves the rear seat package, and I would recommend that feature to all families. Overall the best ride I,ve ever had in a SUV.

2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

    Pros: The appearance

Cons: Rear seat lack of space

Advice: Make sure your rear seat occupants are small and agile!

I recently leased my 2002 Discovery II SE. I am very impressed with the ride quality, and noise isolation. I was, as others, disappointed with the rear seat space! MINIMAL and crowded. My wife rides in the back as we have a 16 month old son, in his car seat. Luckily she is petite! The standard features list is quite impressive, compared to other vehicles in the same 'class'. I opted for the lightstone leather, and the cold climate package, the heated front windshield is a 'first' for me! The power from the smallish 188 hp engine is quite adequate, considering the weight of the Discovery. The comments from friends/acqauintances have ALL been complimentary (re: appearance)

2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

Pros: I loved how the controls for everything were located in the center.

Cons: I wish the back seat had just a little more space.

Advice: If gas is not a concern you will not find a better truck for the price!

I was very impressed with how smooth the truck drove compared to others I test drove. I loved the dual sunroofs and thought the stadium seating was really cool for rear passengers.

2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

    Pros: Comfort, security and safety

    Cons: fuel ecomomy

Advice: Test drive one, you won't believe how nice it rides and the dealer (Greenboro NC) was the nicest I've ever dealt with

This is the best vehicle I have ever driven. It sits up high giving you a commanding view. It feels safe and performs fantastic in the snow.

2002 Land Rover Discovery - SE

    Pros: style, capabilities, handling

Cons: small rear seat and side view mirrors

Advice: This is a great, versatile vehicle for a fair price

The Land Rover Discovery II is a great vehicle. The price is relatively good for what this vehicle has to offer. With the Discovery's impeccable reputation for off road capability, the vehicle has a surprisingly smooth and luxurious ride. The controls are located in different places compared to most vehicles, but take little time to become accustomed to. The vehicles corners better than most others of the same size. Acceleration is impressive from a rather docile 4.0L engine with a mere 188 bhp. The CD changer is a little akward to access, especially from the driver seat. The side view mirrors are rather small and the vehicle lacks automatic lights. The rear seats are difficult to access, especially for tall individuals. Other than that, the vehicle is well equipped and comfortable. I just purchased my 2002 Blenheim Silver Disco II SE. I opted for the lightstone leather, finding it easier on the eyes. Included at cost were additional wood trim, wheel locks, running boards and front and rear brush guards. The selection is limited, since LR only produces around 70k Discos per year. And with the introduction of the Freelander most Discos were shipped early this year. As far as service, there is a no haggle policy involved, which simply means customers will not spend the entire day at LR debating price. The service department is very helpful and friendly. My experiences at LR have been very pleasant and a big change from the service I was accustomed to at Ford. The warranty is 4 yr/50k miles. Oil changes are free for the life of the vehicle in addition to a free loaner for customers 21+ yrs of age. LR also tries to wash and vacuum your vehicle per service. So far, I am very satisfied with my owner experience.
