    2005 Kia Spectra - SX (M5)

    Pros: Price

    Cons: Cheap feel inside

Advice: You will regret buying/leasing it after you drive it for a month. (I am 2months into a 1-year lease).

I believe I got the top model of the Kia Spectra, and it's not the best car experience I've had. Kia's website claims it's miles ahead of the competition, but I'd say it's a milimeter ahead, only in warranty and price, because the Toyota Carolla is much more pleasing than this car. I do have to say the seats are very comfortable, and it's sort of quiet, though I cant expect much because it's an economy car. The engine is sluggish and slow, and is noisy. It's as if it has more weight that they say it does. The materials are good looking, but they have a cheap hollow sound to them when you knock on the plastics and this car RATTLES ALOT. I dont feel very safe in this car. Once I do get out of this 12 months lease, I am going to get a Toyota or Nissan. Should've done that in the first place...

    2004 Kia Spectra - LX (M5) Sedan

    Pros: the look

    Cons: engine noise

Advice: Don't pay what you would pay for it's competitor

I actually bought this car left over from 2004. Got it for less the $10,000. The car looks great inside and out, however, everything looks and feels paper thin. Shutting the trunk for the first time feels strange because it is so much lighter than you would expect. The engine light will come on if the gas cap is not VERY tight. The engine makes alot of noise, more than it should. Shifting it is not enjoyable at all. The engine seems to not want to decellerate during shifts. You can feel the front wheel drive power in the steering wheel during steering and accelleration. It does feel very sturdy and you get a smooth ride. The look is very nice. The warranty is great. I am pleased with my purchase because of the price. If I had to pay a price simular to Ford focus, corrolla, or civic, I would purchase one of those cars.

    2002 Kia Spectra - LS (M5) Sedan

Pros: The look of the vehicle is the only good feature.

    Cons: Repair shop.

Advice: Do not buy any Kia vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a 2004 (in March 04)with everything. I had my first oil change and found out my transmission was leaking. It in now Jan. 05 and I am still having transmission problems. I have taken it into the shop several times. They have supposedly changed a gasket and other things. Now my check engine light is on and I am suppose to take the car back and have it rewired. I also have a stripped out air filter box, which was not messed up before the transmission service, that they will not fix. My transmission now does not shift properly. I am considering legal action. A friend told me about problems with the Sedona Van. Their favorite excuse is 'Kia knows that they have problems with wiring and have steps to fix it.' My friend says she was told the same but about the air conditioner. DONT BUY ANY KIA!!!!!!!

    2002 Kia Spectra - LS (M5) Sedan

    Pros: The body style.

Cons: I wish i got a radio with a CD player and more bass.

Advice: Test drive, and don't expect too much.

I bought the car for my wife as new in 2002 and I enjoy the car to this very day, even through my wife drive it most of the time. After 27K the car had to be taken back twice to get the PCV fixed. The service department didn't run the car serial number through the system the first time, because there was a recall on that part. If they would have done that it the first time would have been taken care of. Other then that, it's been treating my family extrmely well. Take off from a dead stop, is slow, but what can you expect from a 4 cylinder. I have know problem with the braking, it's good on gas, and I like the style. It's nice and sport for the GSX.

    2004 Kia Spectra - EX (M5) Sedan

Pros: I like the car overall very well

Cons: gas mileage is not impressive for this type vehicle

Advice: Buy it if it fits your needs, it is the best value in its class

this vehicle feels very much like my wife's Honda Civic. It feels sold, handles well, and is very comfortalbe. I have had no problems with it after 1000 miles and the dealer personnel were very nice. I am not impressed with the gas mileage however. I find the power to be very adequate even though I have an automatic.

    2004 Kia Spectra - GS (M5) Hatchback

Pros: Low price and 10 year warranty.

Cons: After only 10000 miles while driving on open road rpms went between 5000-6000 and I had to pull over to put in park and then back into drive. Took to dealer and said no problems found but got papers from service center stating there was a problem.

Advice: If you plan to keep car for duration of loan period it's great. If you plan to trade it in, beware! Value greatly depreciates once driven off lot (about $6000)

Car handles very well on the open road. Gas mileage slowly getting worse. Maintenance is current, but still doesn't help my mileage. Acceleration is not that great even when a/c is off but I learned not to pull out in front of anyone anymore.
