Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: I love the look of it
Cons: You have to slam the back wheel an average of 3 times to get it to stay shut.
Advice: If you plan on an alarm system, they usually come with automatic door openers. Don't spend the extra for that feature up front.I've owned my Sportage for a couple of months now. I really enjoy it and got a good price so I'm pleased overall. There is something that you should know before buying. The 10yr/100,000 bumper to bumper warranty that they offer is misleading. In truth, they only give you a 5yr/50,000 warranty and you have to purchase the other 5yr 50,000 at a steep price($1,200 or more if I remember correctly). That was a shock when we got into the finance department. Our dealer has been very helpful and has taken care of us well. I hope your experience is the same.
Pros: Seating Flexibility
Advice: EX models go quickly - be prepared to buy when you test drive. An amazing value. Sedona is comfortable, performs well, and costs $5-8K less than closest competitors that aren't as well equipped. We put 15,000 miles on it in six months and like it more now than when we first test drove it.
Pros: Sound system, exterior and interior designs, sharp head light design, & comfort
Cons: Quality of windshield - stress fracture. They should recall this! Many compartments can be a plus but they're so small it adds little to no value. AC button - the light is so dim I can't tell if I have the AC on or not.
Advice: Ask what they will do if the windshield breaks before signing.I agree with most folks that it has a smooth ride. But I thought the acceleration could have more of a kick. I can choose to give it extra gas but I hate to drain more gas than it already does. Having owned subcompacts all my life, I really noticed the difference of 15 city & 20 fwy fuel mileage. As much as I like the car, it really is a gas guzzer, which I'm not too fond of.
Advice: Don't be so gullible to half-truth commercialsMy sister bought this heap last year. Every time a Kia advert comes on the t.v., comparing these bargain-basement vehicles to Hondas, I have to laugh. My sister, and apparently too many others, have to learn the hard way that 'you get what you pay for'. remember Lada? They sold like hotcakes for years because people somehow think a low-quality new car is better than a high-quality used. My sister is considering returning the car as per the new 'Lemon Law'.
Pros: warranty, quadruple 5 star safety
Cons: lacks some cargo room, seats in back are confusing as how to flip up and remove
Advice: Go to the lot, look in the window, say 'wow', then look at the sticker on the window, then look back in the window to see if your eyes were misleading youLow road noise, quiet engine. No shifting in and out of 4th and 5th gear with minor adjustments in road speed, which initially I was concerned about with the the only 5 speed automatic trans in the class. Could only afford used until we found the sedona. quadruple 5 star safety. Kids like the sun roof. Sound system in the EX is better than the the upgrades in most the other vans I drove. I am 6'5' and sat in the back seat and had plenty of room. it was very comfortable. my friend is 6'4' and said it would be his second choice to shotgun, But don't plan on grocery shopping with us in there because with the seat all the way back and leaned back you won't fit much in the cargo area. But it is nice to know that seven people will be riding in comfort and luxury if just going out on the town. No rebates currently, but got into the van at 400 over invoice. Test drove, bought the van in less than two hours after shopping for months. Nervous about it being a new model, but 5yr/60000, 10yr/100000 makes me feel better. 5000-8000 less than similarly equipped (all others).
Cons: music system
Advice: check consumer reports if you really want the skinny. This car is rated as good as a HondaI am saddened by the reviews I've read already on this car; I have a 2001 Sephia that I've NEVER had any troubles with!! I've driven this thing into the dirt, too! less than one year old, and already 31,000 miles on it! No maintenance except for basics like oil change. I don't understand why these other people had troubles. Not a one from this beauty. Definitely would recommend it to a friend
Pros: all those glove boxes and compartments
Cons: cheep cheesy door handles and gas tank cover
Advice: go for it it rides great!so good I bought it But my sliding door was defected and the dealership repair guy said he saw it in a few other sedonas
