Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Has a lot of room
Cons: Not enough pickup when the air conditioner is runningGood car but doesn't hold it's value like other cars. Paid $17,000 three years ago and now it is only worth $7,000.........not a good value in my opinion. Other cars hold their value longer.
NICE CAR FOR THE $
Pros: audio/mp3 input
Cons: shift gate- HATE it!The engine performs well and even has good fuel economy at 55-65MPH. The transission is fair but the downshift are somewhat abrupt and the accelorator is very abrupt as well (takes getting used to). The shif gate is atrocious. It is absolutely the worst thing about the car! If you need to get from drive to reverse quickly, forget it. The shift gate makes this virtually impossible! Seats are fairly comfortable and the car has ample leg room for someone like myself (260lbs., 5'11'). Many nice ammenities for a mid-size budget vehicle. The dash lighting is also very nice.
2009 Kia Optima SX
Pros: Voice activated Navigation
Cons: Could have a little more powerGreat, beautiful car.
Pros: Feeling safe while driving. Airbags everywhere
Cons: The driver's seat is not comfortableI got this car in October - have to admit it is a nice car - I have always driven a Ford Taurus and thought I would try something new. If it wasn't for the dealership - I would probably get another Kia Optima. I saw the 2011 - beautiful car.
Cons: Lack of Direct Port InjectionThis vehicle is similar to a camry, accord and altima. It costs half the price after rewbates and discounts. It has a 5/60 bbwarranty and a 10/100 powertrainwarranty. It does everything very well. It is an impressiveve vehicle for the safety, fuel efficiency, looks, performance and reliability. I paid 12995.00 after all discounts plus tax title and doc fees.
Pros: Quality build
Advice: Change the oil regularly and enjoy the ride.We had two prior Kia Optimas ( 2001 and 2004). We just bought two new ones loaded 6 months ago. The cars handles great on highway and in city driving. Electronic Stability control and ABS brakes is a vital plus. Power is more than adequate with the 4 Cyl. engine. Areodynamics on this car is outstanding on highway driving. You can pass a semi rig on the road with out the usual swaying and buffeting as you pass through the Rig's turbulent wind stream plus cross winds have little effect on the cars. The ride is smooth not mushy yet still maintains a sporty feel on curvy roads. Handling is excellent in most conditions. Only draw back is the tires in the snow and wet conditions. They just don't seem to have great traction in those conditions although they offer good long wear. Reliability is excellent on the service from the cars. Don't expect to visit the dealership much except for oil changes. The cars is just that reliable and well built plus you have an outstanding bumper to bumper ( 5 year/ 60,000 miles) warranty range just in case. Our Gas mileage on the highway averages about 31 MPG at 75 MPH while traveling on long trips. In city driving is adequate at around 16 to 19 MPG in stop and go driving. Seating is very comfortable for long trips or just stop and go driving. No fatigue problems at all. Quite pleased with our purchases.
Pros: Interior Room!
Cons: No trunk mat (there was nothing else I could complain about!)
Advice: Do your homework and go for the V6!After owning the 2009 Optima SX V6 for just a few days I can say the following: The V6 engine performs well...a decent amount of power & very responsive. The suspension is tight and the seats are very compfortable. The controls are very clear and easily accessible. I did get the premium and convenience packages, so the options are surprisingly abundant for such a low price tag. The car came with beautiful 17' rims and Michelin's!
