Cons: fuel economy
Advice: get a 4x4 system with low range and get the leather if at all possibleI have had a previous Jeep, test drove this model as well as every thing comperable and came back to by it. Have only had one issue (the cd player sticks when its really hot)but the dealer replaced it the same day with no questions asked. After 30K still no problems at all and i do a lot more than just drive on nice paved streets all day. Would recommend it to any one who wants a real utility truck.
Pros: Engine response, ride, stereo, comfort
Cons: Exhorbitant and constant repairs after warranty expires, Gas Mileage
Advice: For those with deep pockets or those who get extended warranty - superbI caution anyone who is buying looking for an SUV for quality to reconsider another vehichle. I have owned a 1995 Jeep GC, a 1999 and a 2001. All V8's and 4x4. If you have plenty of money to spend for repairs, gas - mainly HVAC and Transmission problems, then this vehichle is otherwise super. I love the interior, the handling, the snappy v8, the ride, the cornering and secure feel of this v8. The problem was that the minimum repairs on my vehicle (average driver at 20 miles per day) started no less than $1500. They've all had 2-3 HVAC switch doors replaced 1-3 times each - plus evaporators, which requires full removal of the entire dash at $2000. If you have a warranty than this vehichle is awesome - just let Chrysler pay for your repairs, however, sell it before it expires. If you want reliability and better MPG - look at the Tahoe. My jeep's best MPG on the highway was 15-16mpg. The Tahoe's are 18-10mpg. When you strip the Jeep down - it's a Mopar/Chrylser underneath.
Pros: The Rocky Mountain Package
Cons: The service department where I bought it.
Advice: Drive it!This 2005 Rocky Mountain Edition is my second Grand Cherokee, and both have been Chrysler Certified Used Vehicles. Both have been excellent, but the 2005 is exceptional. Mine has the 3.7 V-6, which I consider adequate, performance wise, with economy that exceeds Jeep's estimate. The ride is smoother and quieter than my 2001, and the Rocky Mountain package gave me even more optional equipment than I'd even considered getting. The Chrysler Certified Warranty is actually better than the new warranty. My son-in-law has a Limited with a Hemi, but he was impressed with the power my 3.7 has. I highly reccommend this vehicle.
Pros: Shotgun power
Cons: tough to find run flat studded snows
Advice: drive it, you must experience the never ending power.....nothing like itThe SRT-8 is truly a remarkable vehicle. I have previously owned the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and must say the Hemi charged SRT-8 is a much more exhilarating. The SRT-8 does not have the same quality of interior workmanship that the Porsche has, but it out handles, accelerates, and out brakes it. If you are a true driving enthusiast like myself, this car is a better car for the money.....hands down. Don't think of this car as an SUV with a big engine.....its more like a jacked station wagon on steroids.
Pros: Motor and GPS
Cons: Back seat. (I never use it)
Advice: Try the car for a dayThis Car is the europeen 3.0 CRD V6 diesel motor with 210 HP and 510nm (The motor is the same as Mercedes ML320). The motor feels very strong att every RPH. It feels stronger than my 2001 Jaguar XH V8 with 290 HP. The road holding is very good. I can not find any negativ to say about this car.
Pros: The outside apperance
Cons: seat material
Advice: if you can not buy the limited with leather seats or if you do not want to purchase seat covers do not buy this vehicleI love how it drives but the quality of the interior is lacking. The seats spot whenever anything drips on them even if it is condensation from a cup or rain drops. I am big on appearence so this was a major let down. The seats are nearly impossible to clean because they spot so badly. I have had them scotch guarded but it has not made a difference. I love the appearance of this vehicle but I am very dissapointed that they would be material of such low quality on the seats.
Cons: Quality - they prove once again why the best cars are foreign
Advice: Buy a comparable import, save yourself the headacheI love Jeep Grand Cherokees - this is my third. This is the best looking and performing one yet. However, in less than 13000 miles it has no brakes left, the muffler was defective and on back order for the last 2 months, and the dealer service is the worst I can possibly imagine. They are not even trying to retain customers, and that is why this will be my LAST Jeep ever, I wanted the BMW X5 - I should have gotten it. I got my wife a BMW 3 series about the same time as I got my Jeep, she has not had one service issue - she hasn't even needed an oil change yet. Also, the BMW dealer has called ME 4 times just to see how the car is. I will never buy American again.
