The New 2011 Jaguar XJ Supercharged
Pros: The 470 Horsepower of sheer elegance and guts
Cons: It would be nice to have a real instrument cluster, but heh, we live in a world of graphics.Wow, what a car. This is the first time a bought a car sight unseen. The car far exceeds my expectations. I previously owned a 1998 XJL. Yes, I had problems with the 1998 but Jag fixed them all without a fuss (including replacing the transmission). The 2011 is far superior in interior materials and design. The new exterior is very striking and worthy of a car of this stature. The 470 HP is very responsive and gutsy. For the weight/HP ration, the car screams performance. On the highway, it certainly provide good gas mileage. I am averaging 18 combined. The are minor glitches but nothing to gripe about. Yes, I would buy this car again. Overall, I love the looks, stance and interior. My true test is that I enjoy washing the car every weekend to admire the 'cat' for all perspectives. It doens't meow, but growls with purrfection.
Jaguar 2008 - the last of the classic Jaguars
Cons: Outdated ElectronicsAs Jaguar moves to the world of the XF and stretching it into the new XJ 2011, my Jaguar XJ Super 8 has been a stylish drive. Smooth ride and a rather responsive engine makes it a joy. Outdated electronics and a very poor service department makes it me after nearly 20 years of owning several Jaguars ready to move on. It saddens me since I have become associated with Jaguar since I have driven one for many years. They are unique cars and always an eye catcher but from the owner's perspective they are work - or at least require to much work for what they deliver.
Advice: Get one before they're goneThe XJR has fantastic performance, classic good looks, and is fabulously comfortable. A sports car in a sport sedan disguise
Advice: You Only Live Once!2003 XJ8 - Smooth & Fast Ride, Premium Interior and Glossy! Can pick up like nothing other. Nothing compares to my Topaz Jag. Just purchased as a lease trade-in with very low miles..She Absolutely Commands the Road and cradles the Driver in Luxury. Keeping My little Gold Mercedes for bad weather. LOL!
Pros: Touch screen DVD / Readio
Cons: 6 CD changer in trunk.
Advice: Insist on changing black grill to a silver grill that is on the VDP. My dealer fought with me but I persisted and it really enhances the look.Third Jag owned and they get better. 'Stepped down' from an XJR since Jaguar opted out of the horesepower race but the car is still very quick and extremely responsive. I just stop hunting for BMWs and Porsches. This model finally feels roomy as a saloon car should. While it is quieter than before it is still not as quiet as my Mercedes. Minor tradeoff for a distinctive ride.
Pros: Makes me feel like a million bucks every time I drive it.
Cons: City fuel economy is poor, but highway is great.
Advice: Compare and price vs. the competition. This car is a great buy!The new XJ8 is a dream to drive! Super smooth ride and power delivery, typical of Jaguar. Classic leather and wood interior makes other luxury cars look cheap. Handling is amazing for a full sized car. And the look is still classic Jag, drawing favorable comments wherever I go.
