Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Jaguar design and looks
Advice: Buy one today!I absolutely love this car! I have owned Honda, test-driven BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. This car is superior to all of them! I feel like a million dollars driving this car. It's so supple, refined and exciting to look at. By comparison, the german and japanese cars are pedestrian and quite plain. Quality is excellent - no problems to report! And the Dealer couldn't be more polished and professional. Do yourself a favor and buy one today - your outlook on (and actual) life will improve.
Pros: the fact that it's a newer Jaguar
Cons: driver's side storage for CD's (doesn't exist)
Advice: Remember, it looks timeless while other cars age quickly in appearanceThe car is incredible! I bought my black 3.0 off the show room floor and have absolutely loved it! It is a Select Edition and has a much better warranty than a non-used Jag. The ride, handling, fit, finish and paint are simply the best! I remain concerned since it's the first 'used' car I've ever bought but it has been spot-on in every category this first 2 months. Everyone takes a second look when I cruise by since it is quite a looker. The 17-inch wheels don't hurt in the looks department. I'm absolutely thrilled and so thankful Jaguar decided to offer a sporty sedan that looks like the iconic XJS but is a little smaller for those (like me) who aren't ready to drive grandpa's car...just yet.
Pros: Exceptional Styling, AWD, Turbine like Power (3.0 Auto), Classic Jag interior
Cons: Needs memory driver's seat, rear doors don't open wide enough, tire noise
Advice: With the big price deduction, get the full load - you're still ahead!!Sent the wife to look at the X Model on her own. Her return report was: (1) Classy exterior and interior, (2) It beeps at me if I am going to back into somthing! Needless-to-say, after an extended test drive-sold! As X-Jag owners ( 1967 Vanden Plas V12, 1989 XJS Convertible V12 ), I was a little apprehesive about the electrics ( Lucas -The Prnce Of Darkness!!), but I heard good things about the Ford boys cracking the whip resulting in a leap to number 3 position on the J.D. Powers survey (ahead of BMW and MB), and that the plant the X Type was made was rated the best plant for quality assembly in the Ford world-wide group. Has the distinctive classic Jag design exterior with that Old English wood and leather-lined interior, plenty of power, and looks that set it apart from the Benz-Bimmer and look-a-likes on the streets. Still a rare car you will not see at every stop light. The wife (the principle driver) has threatened divorce proceedings if I trade it in. Hmmm, maybe an S Type Sport with the supercharger for me. P.S.: No problems with the car!
Pros: The handling....and the AWD
Cons: The digital readout for the mileage..
Advice: Buy it...You'll love it.I have the 3.0 Sport, it handles excellent in cornering and braking. Also, the sport package has the dynamic stability control feature and the 320 watt Alpine 10 speaker sound system....AWESOME. It rides smooth in town and on the highway, just wish it had a little bigger gas tank.
Pros: Overalll performance, you step on the gas it goes.
Cons: Spring too stiffly and overdampended, doesn't feel European, like my old Sterling
Advice: In the 2.5 go with the stick if you can find oneI have had my X type for a bit over a year. I just completed a cross country journey from near DC to Seattle and return. In over 8,500 miles, including numerous side trips I averaged over 29 miles per gallon, so a pox on those who say this thing is a gas hog. The large trunk proved handy, as it was filled with luggage and fishing gear. If you are contemplating a 2.5 Liter X-Type hold out for the stick. The performance is better than the automatic, and certainly better than the Outback Limited I replaced. A final note, 40,000 mile scheduled maintenance was due in Seattle and the local dealer was helpful and able to squeeze me in. The experiences with Laurel Jaguar, the selling dealer, and Jaguar of Seattle have been wonderful.
Pros: Interior and exterior appearances are tops on my list.
Cons: Digital readout controls are very small and difficult to see.
Advice: If the deal is right go for it. I had better deals with Jag than my old MB dealer. What a car! I have owned BMW's and Mercedes and planned on a new Mercedes but stopped by the Jag dealer after a long day of car shopping and was blown away. Even my 8 year old son said what a beautiful car the 3.0 X type was. Interior leather is awesome unlike the MB. Standard features included were high priced options on the MB. So far after 5 months we are proud of the Jag and enjoy it. Four year bumper to bumper warranty including oil changes is an added bonus. Insurance seems a bit higher than the Mercedes and BMW.
Cons: seat comfort
Advice: not really a long distance comfort ridequick and responsive. classic look well apointed
