The company founded by Sir William Lyons produces some of the most gracefully styled cars available. As you’ll see in these new Jaguar pictures, the cars from Coventry are very beautiful indeed.
The first Jaguar model offered to attain considerable renown in North America was the Jaguar XK 120, first shown at the 1948 London Motor Show. Interestingly, it was originally intended to be just a concept car to show off the new 160-horsepower XK engine. The sensuously curvaceous Jaguar's body inspired so much enthusiasm among show goers; the company quickly put it into production.
The model’s nomenclature was a function of the fact the Jaguar automobile had a top speed of 120 miles per hour. This gave it the distinction of being the fastest production car available at that time. As the engine steadily became more powerful, the XK 120 evolved into the XK 140, then the XK 150, and eventually into the most iconic model in the history of Jaguar, the 1961 Jaguar E-Type (also known as the Jaguar XK-E).
Speaking of the Jaguar E-Type, this car’s styling is so celebrated; an example of the jaguar is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The Jaguar is one of only three cars to be so honored. In this catalog of new Jaguar images you can readily trace the lineage of these exceedingly comely cars. In addition to exterior views, you’ll find interior shots as well. The idea of these new Jaguar photos is to give you as many different views as possible to enhance your appreciation for these extraordianey automobiles.
