    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

Pros: Variable weather and emergency handling

Cons: Wiper Controls - took awhile to figure out need to be on for mist

Advice: Drive it, you'll buy it, but don't try stealing it.

I have not bought one yet but rented one from Avis at La Guardia Airport for Valentine's Weekend drove to Boston and back.I was very impressed with the car. Drove thru snow, rain, road slush, water holes. I-95, I-495 this car was impressive. It had very option was very comfy and roomy, nice riding, fast responding emergency manuvering through some pretty suicidal drivers on I-95 in RI and CT. It was very windy and it had no effect on the car's handling. I was planning on a used late model Cadillac Seville and am now having second thoughts due to its cost and nearly same fuel mileage factors. The only negatives were a dry bearing in the passenger rear wheel and the engine had a drone like vibration under 65 miles an hour.. It wanted to run or fly to quiet down ! I also had the big engine with the Automatic and it was very smooth shifting and was not shifty or laboring on hills like a previous rental (Ford Contour with the twin cam) and got better mileage too ! I am a Cadillac man and this car impressed me ! I going to try out their top of the line to see which is better for me. I just hope the drive trains last longer than their warranty as I drive 25k mi a year. Its stopping ability was very very good and straight in an emergency stop and one hour long 8 mile long bumper to bumper touch and go without fade or pull. Had just a tad amount but went where pointed torque steer on hard accelerations. I really like this car and it's my first choice if I can't afford a used late model Seville. I had no problems with the Cruise Control..can't say that of the wiper controls. Could use back seat reading lamps too. My present vehicles are a 1994 S-10 with 141,000 miles on it and a 1981 Monte Carlo with 167,000 miles on it. Its time for me to get a new car and the website model year entry does not allow you to enter older than a 1996 to send out this evaluation.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - LX (M5)

Pros: The stereo/cd player/cassette (leather seats are nice also)

Cons: A little underpowered. The 3.5L would be a nice option.

    Advice: Great buy

Altough the Sonata is not a BMW, it will impress most people. And the value is outstanding. Where else can a customer find all the options and styling found in the 2002 Sonata and a '$0' deductable-10 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - LX (M5)

    Pros: looks

    Cons: moonroof

Advice: ABS does improve handling, if your short choose option pkg 6

moon roof takes up to much headroom, option package 6 required to get ABS but it forces the moonroof on you.

    2002 Hyundai Elantra - (M5) Sedan

    Pros: 140 hp

Cons: stereo is less than i wanted. I'll upgrade

Advice: List the things you want from a car before you buy

I have 1200 miles on my Elantre and it definatley has some get up and go when needed. Rap the accelerator and it takes off, in town or at expressway speeds. Just right for the daily comute. I chose it over the competetion for this and the little bit of extra leg room it has. The transmission seems to get confused when the car is cold at low speeds, and the am/fm cassette sound system is marginal. The trunk is one the mafia would be proud of. Lots of room. A good choice for the price. And what a warranty.

    2002 Hyundai Elantra - (M5) Sedan

Pros: The many convenience and safety features of the car.

Cons: The poor quality of the fit for interior trim and components has been an onging problem.

Advice: Test drive and exam the vehicle you intend to buy. Do not accept a substitute.

The 2.0 liter engine delivers plenty of power, but the transmission seems unable to find the right gear at speeds lower than highway cruising.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

Pros: the ability to swith between automatic and manual

Cons: the bucket seats are somewhat uncomfortable

Advice: test drive and compare the prices. YOU'LL BE SOLD!

this car really took my breath away when i first seen it. i never would have imagined myself ever buying a hyundai. But all of that changed when i test drove it. it had the ability to pick up speed and keep up. the interior is very roomy and the exterior is very classy like the jag. and the price....is well within anyone's budget. only problem is the bucket seats are not that comfortable.
