Advice: Check mileage before you buy and also steering. Too loose and hard to control in an emergency.I purchased a 2005 Santa Fe 4 wheel drive, new. I can not get any good mileage. 13 city, 19 freeway. Wish I had known that before I bought it.
Advice: beware!Did I buy a lemon? I had the car for under 2 months when it broke down for the first time. Due to the lack of parts it took 2 weeks to get it repaired. (3 cat converters and 2 O2 sensors). Less than 2 weeks later the car broke down again this time needing a new computer module. While driving the car home from the dealer after this repair, I noticed that the engine was making so much noise on acceleration that it drowned out the radio so back to the dealer it went. This latest repair is pending.
Cons: Everything is defective from the engine to the molding.
Advice: DO NOT BUY THIS CARI bought this vehicle and have regreted it since the 2nd day. Drive Shaft, Engine Mount and ABS are all defective. Window molding falling off and I've only owned the vehicle for 3 months. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! I wish I would have spent the extra money and bought one of the other vehicles I had considered.
Pros: Power and performance
Advice: Drive one and you will buy oneI was a mechanic and have bought a few new cars and have driven a bunch of new cars over the years. When I drove the 2007 Santa Fe for the first time I was impressed right away. I had a Chevy Tahoe and and was use to the performance and room. I was not disappointed with the Santa Fe. The 3.3 liter more is more that able to get up and run with the big boys. The ride and handling was the next thing that I noticed. My 6 foot 260 pound frame found plenty of room all around. I was surprised when I looked in the back seat after I got out of the front. I thought that all of the leg room would be gone since I had the drivers seat back pretty far. That was not the case. I could get into the back seat with room to spare. I chose the 2 seat Limited model and liked the room in the rear for luggage and groceries. I feel that there was a lot of thought that went into the layout of the controls and the creature comforts that were designed into the interior. The radio controls on the steering wheel are a nice touch but its been a long time since I saw a vehicle at this price with a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. The dual climate controls for the AC are also very nice. THe fit and finish and the feel of everything was another thing I noticed. The closing of the doors gives one the impression of a really well made vehicle. I have rated this car a 5 across the board. If you are looking for a really nice car put the Santa Fe on your list for test drives.
Pros: Standard Safety Features!
Cons: Interior fabric is too light in color
Advice: Standard Safety Features!Peppy 2.7L V6 engine. Ultra-tight turning radius and super easy to park. HIGH safety ratings... http://www.safercar.gov/Index2.cfm?myClass=SUV&myYear=2007&myMake=Hyundai&myModel=Santa+Fe&GoButton=View+specific+vehicle
Pros: roomy but small
Advice: BUY IT!!!! IT IS WORTH IT!!!test drove this vehicle and within hours I was driving it home! Wonderful on the hiway as well in the city. It is also better on gas than my trailblazer (got rid of it!)Steers and handles wonderfully. Glad I purchased it! Thanks Bonnie Quinn
Cons: Gasoline door latch.
Advice: More bang for the buck. We've only had it for 2 weeks, and let me tell, this vehicle is awsome! I researched this, and Hyundai has come along way. I've read numerous publications, and reviews, and the Santa Fe is now a serious contentder to more pricey suvs in its class. Toyota and Honda are starting to look over their shoulders. This suv is a pleasure to drive, and handles like a sedan. I considered Honda, Nissan, Ford escape, even a Toyota. But overall, in my opinion, the Santa Fe beats them all. Maybe the Izuzu commercial guy should come to Hyundai. I highly recommend this SUV! Rick
