Excellent on Gas!
Pros: Gas mileage
Cons: There is nothing about it that I don't likeWhat a great deal! I saw this used car parked on the street by my house with a 'for sale' sign on it. I was needing a vehicle with good gas mileage, and took it for a test drive. It ran great, it is a stick-shift, and it gets 34-36 mpg! I picked it up for only $1,200! It is the best car I have ever had.
Pros: nice all around
Cons: the viberation over 58
Advice: find smooth road and go 60, pay atention, maybe it's just my carI like it, rides nice, feels good, shifting and handling is nice, so far the only falt is over 58 mph in (5th gear only) it has a slight viberation, every 1 1/2 seconds a tiny viberation comes on for maybe a half second, and does not go away till you go less than 58 mph, road needs to be smooth or newer to feel it, then it gets irratating.
Pros: Besides fine MPG, the usable smooth transmission shifter & clutch will never be tiresome to use.
Cons: Even with 6 airbags, Accent's side collision protection for rear seat passengers must be improved.
Advice: For buyers with few rear seat passengers because of lower than average crash protection. Our Accent has excellent tuning, & feather footing gives superb MPG. Ascending to a 5500 foot mountain pass near Mt. Rainier, Accent got a calculated 41+MPG. Rising to a lower 1400 foot pass, Accent nailed down 45MPG! Tho excess rpms & engine noise are above average, the engine is smooth. No creaks, whines or rattles. If you need performance tho, you have to shift down a lot. Some Accents sold for as low as $7000 to $8000, a superlative value. With 28000 miles, we have had no problem! For such a cheap car, it is nice to have an 8-way adjustable driver's seat with a viable arm rest (just don't lean heavily on it). With the armrest, the ride is OK for long drives (especially if you are driving in beautiful Washington state-ha ha). Other items on the cheap are a tach, 3 position intermittent wipers, inside adjustable rearview mirrors (manual), excellent short throw shifter & clutch for smooth, but unhurried shifting (no razz matazz), no cost mud flaps, & acceptable no nonsense speakers that won't need changing out if you don't need a lot of bass. The steering is quicker than provided in some other cars. While the exterior width of the Accent is the same as Honda Fit & Toyota Yaris, INTERIOR WIDTH is one to 3 inches wider than those cars, providing for nice shoulder width! We have a good chance of going 100,000 miles & NOT needing the 100,000 mile warranty.
Pros: IMPRESSIVE MILEAGE,RIDE, POWER.COMFORT,and QUALITY
Advice: IF YOU DON'T MIND IT'S LOOKS,'YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED !Not terribly impressed with the Accent's looks, but other than that, this little car is quite impressive! Mileage varied from, about, 28 in local driving, up to quite an inpressive, 42 miles on the highway. After several trips to and from, Lancaster, Pa. to Westchester County, N.Y. this mileage was, CONSISTANT ! Not much in the looks dept. in my opinion, but QUITE IMPRESSIVE LITTLE CAR ! OH YEAH, this was,' RENTAL !
Pros: Great gas mileage!!!!! Reliability!!
Cons: Interior plastic on the doors scratches very, very easily.
Advice: If you are looking for good value for the money and good mileage, get this car!I've had mine for 14 months and I drive it about 80 miles per day 5 days a week-it has 26,000 miles already and I do not regret buying this car. I needed something inexpensive with a good warranty(just in case)and I scored when I bought this car. I get 33-37 mpg. I do not know why the 2008's are only rated to get 33mpg...my 2007 was rated to get 37, and IT DOES, provided you do not beat on it. If you do not expect it to perform like a sports car and do not ask it to, then you will get great mileage. Drive responsibly and you will be pleased. My boyfriend has a leadfoot and he got a lot less mpg when he borrowed it for the week. It is comfortable. I have hauled 3 passengers in it at once and they all marveled over how much room they had, even in the back seat. There is a bit of engine noise, yes, when you go on the highway, and the interior plastic on the doors scratches VERY easily. These are my only gripes so far. No problems with it mechanically, and it started up great last winter when the temperature was 25 below zero. It handled fairly well in the snow, considering it is a very light car-about as well as my saturn sedan that I had prior to this. I am glad I bought it. It is a well made car for the money.
Pros: Front seat room
Cons: Lack of sixth speed
Advice: EPA mileage estimates are pure fantasy.9000 miles. No problems. Great front seat room. Consistent 30-MPG in in-town driving. Have gotten as as high as 36-MPG highway staying with 80-MPH traffic. Road noise noticibable at highway speeds, but the great stereo covers it. A sixth speed would be nice - 3,500 RPM at 70 MPH! Needs rear hatch window wiper.
Cons: No cruise
Advice: Buy a HyundaiI am not reporting on the 2007 model - yet. We are buying one this week. Last Sunday my son hit a deer head-on, while traveling 60 mph in his 2005 Accent. The deer was standing still, so this was equivalent to hitting a wall. All airbags deployed and he walked away totally unhurt. Sadly the car was totaled, but it saved my sons life. The safety features of ANY Hyundai are incredible. Who cares about cup holders when your child is unhurt. He drove the car for almost 2 years with absolutely NO repairs. NONE. A wonderful car to own. Not a luxury but good value for the money.
