Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Cons: I'm afraid I will get interior (ivory colored) dirty.
Advice: EX worth the extra $ it costs compared to Civic LXGreat car, very quiet, comfortable.
Cons: Poor h.p. and torque, no traction or 4-wheel ABS, not enough cargo room.
Advice: Get the Cavalier LS or LS Sport sedan instead!I found this car has to be pushed out of its own way! I was not impressed! No traction control. No 4-wheel ABS. Not much cargo room. No h.p. or torque. And no rebate. Fortunately, the same dealership also had the 2003 Cavaliers. Even the Cavalier LS sedan beat the Civic EX sedan overall. And it came with a rebate. It came with traction. It came standard with 4-wheel ABS. I highly recommend the Cavalier instead.
Pros: The trunk is very spacious. I Love it!
Cons: The seats can be alittle better.
Advice: If you're looking for a smooth ride, big trunk, reliable car, get this one! This Car is great. I just recently bought this car about 4 weeks ago and this car is amazing. It's so smooth and slick clean. Especially when turning on the ignition, the engine sound is smooth, wait, it's smooth you could barely hear it. Especially when stopping at a traffic red light, you could not hear any sounds. The ride is real smooth. The Exterior room is spacious. This is a dream car for me. The weird thing is that i'm only 19 and using the word 'dream car' already. HaHa. Truly amazing car!!!
Pros: The comfortable seats... so soft... Not like the Jetta's rock hard ... things that they were.
Cons: Small tires.. body too high.. needs to be a little lower.
Advice: A test drive will tell.I have about 16000 miles on my car now and I love it. The looks were wierd at first when I saw the car in white but then I saw the silver and black ones and I liked them a lot. I got the silver one, of course. The engine is good for a stock 160hp car. The redline could be a little higher than about 7100 that it is now. I like the honda reliability. I had a 2002 Jetta before this car and that car just makes my Honda seem like a God. I've had no problems with this car like I did with the Jetta with only 10000 miles on it. This car handles surprisingly well and the transmission shifts are very smooth. I'd recommend at least test driving this car.
Pros: Fuel economy.
Cons: Poor h.p. and torque, no traction control or 4-wheel ABS.
Advice: I suggest the Cavalier LS Sport or Corolla LE instead!I do not see what people see in the Civic. I checked it when looking for a compact sedan for better gas mileage, traction and stability than my prior car. This one is not bad on gas mileage. But it is poor on h.p. and torque. It is sluggish! And it is not available with traction control. I am not sure if it is available with 4-wheel ABS. And it was not available with a rebate. So, I could not have afforded its monthly payments, anyway. I checked around. I got the best deal on the 2003 Cavalier LS sedan. Its sunroof and fog lights may have to be dealer-installed. But I recommend it instead of the Civic EX. In fact, I even recommend the Corolla LE instead!
Pros: motor, power, std. equipment, interior size
Cons: fuel cut off 7100rpm, seating level (too high)
Advice: buy it and do not listen to all the negative hypeThis car will grow on you just give it some time. Do not listen to all the hype surrounding the cars handling. The car handles fine but admittly (for some)can be better which can be taken care of when the stock tires are worn out and replaced with better slightly wider tires which is what I will do when the time comes. And can be made even better still if one desires with a hole host of parts that can be ordered through the aftermarket and simply bolted on with no extra modifications needed. All this hype surrounding how poorly the car handles is smiply untrue do not believe it. This much quality, performance and standard equipment for under 18k is a great deal. If I have one complaint it is that the fuel cutoff is set too low 7,100rpm which is not high enough when you take into consideration how smooth and eager the engine is to rev to that level. As usual Honda fit and finish is as great(even better than cars costing 2x's and 3x's as much). The brakes are great and the steering feel is good. Best in class for the under 18k group.
Pros: gas mileage
Cons: interior lacks imagination and creature comforts. Service at dealerships.
Advice: Find a good dealership for service.I drive lots of short trips and this car is great. It is not for long trips as the seats are small and stiff, but it does have plenty of room for hauling kids and stuff around.
