Pros: 5.3 liter vortec V-8
Advice: Buy it! you wont be sorry.I bought my first new Sierra in June of 04, After driving Ford, Toyota, and Dodge My Sierra blows them all away. This truck has it all comfort, power, and looks. I love the off road package and have already tested it with spectacular results. I have owned several other 4X4s in the past years and this one puts them to shame.
Pros: Adequate power
Cons: The vehicles hood bends down considerably when going thru airdryed carwashes
Advice: get the 5 cylinderI was very surprised by the power of the inline 5 cyl.
Advice: its a roacha dog. cant pull a 2 palce snowmobile trailer with much gusto. needs more torque and horsepower. 2001 sonoma 4x4 4.3L . had a 94 blazer, 4x4, 4.3l and it had more gusto. the 99 sonoma 4x4 4.3L also had better nut than the 2001!. there are exhaust changes and computer re-cal changes for 2001 (made it slower) otherwise besides the front hubs being junk, it made for a reliable machine,, uncomfortable passenger seat and terrible armrest. hard cusion.. ouch! -- divot created in it after time on the road. :) but a good truck in all reality, just doggy. nice 4x4 lo range. helpful!
Pros: Plenty of room for kids and cargo
Cons: Tire wear, rides too soft
Advice: Be prepared to deal with cranky service peopleOverall I am happy with this truck. My only complaint after one year is tire wear, specifically on the right front. The truck has 13,000 plus miles and I have had one alignment and one tire rotation by dealer, and a second alignment with independent. Independent inspected and test drove truck and mentioned the shocks were bad and with warranty I should take it to the dealer. Took to dealer immediately, and because the service manager 'went to bat' for me they replaced the struts, but was told the worn tire was my problem, not theirs.
Pros: the fuel economy
Cons: noise when crew windows are open
Advice: this truck is fun & practical for a daily driverfun to drive, excellent ride, steering tight, solid brakes great pick up even w/ passendgers...........
Pros: Size, styling.
Cons: Plastic interior, noise/rattles.
Advice: Good utility vehicle but not too powerful.I've owned this vehicle for a little over a year now. Things I like: Good comfort, just the right size, can do about 80% of what I used my former bigger truck to do. Comfortable ride (it's a truck after all). Things I dislike: Heater fan noise (right from the start), has a plastic look, radio/cd player sometimes unreliable, need to slam doors shut otherwise dome lights will stay on forever or for the life of your battery. More rattles in the interior now than a year ago. Could be more powerful considering the so-so gas milage. Would I buy this again? Yes but only if it were based on the design of the GMC Envoy (interior and power system). It seems GMC didn't have a good understanding of who their potential customers were for this product; this truck is like the red-haired step child of the GMC family.
Pros: The looks
Cons: Interior seems spartan
Advice: ZQ8 suspension is a must for everday drivingJust purchased the 2006 Canyon Crew Cab with the newly-optional ZQ8 suspension. This option includes 17 inch aluminum wheels, P235 x 17 Continental tires, rear sway bar, higher pressure gas shocks, polyeurethane body mount bushings, and quicker ratio steering. Truck rides firm, and steering response is excellent. No squeaks or wind noise, and seats are firm and comfortable. Engine noise is minimal at cruising speeds.
