    2004 GMC Sierra 1500 - SLT 4x4 Crew Cab

    Pros: The whole package.

Cons: There is not an optional power up/down rear window.

Advice: I really like the sport bed. This bed adds alot of character to the truck. When waxed there are alot of curves to show.

Solid power, solid ride, solid braking, quiet cabin, smooth transmission, and good vision. My average mpg is 17.8 in mixed driving. I have the 5.3 motor and about 5000 miles on it.

    2004 GMC Sierra 1500 - SLT 4x4 Crew Cab

    Pros: 6 Disc CD Player

    Cons: gas mileage

Advice: Add the Corsica Performance Exhaust. It sounds awesome.

You must 'drive' this truck. The truck seems to want to wander on the highway.

2002 GMC Sierra 1500 - SLE 4x2 Extended Cab Short Box

Pros: Best looking truck on the market

    Cons: Cheap interior

Advice: Can't stand Ford or Dodge

I've owned this truck for 2 years. I feel like much of the interior is made cheap. Have 30,000 miles right now. At 12,000 miles egine started hesitating on cold start. GM can't seem to fix the problem. Engine started knocking some after 12,000 miles also. My dealership just keeps putting these damn computer updates in, which aren't taking care of the problem. I sure wish GM would start making a quality motor. The motors they are putting in their trucks are great, they have all the get up and go you could ask for or want in a fullsize truck. I think they just have some minor modifications that could make their engines really stand out.

2002 GMC Sierra 1500 - SLE 4x4 Regular Cab Short Box

    Pros: ride

Cons: transmission shift points under tow

Advice: Go for it. It's the best of the bunch.

I have driven it for about 15,000 miles since buying it used at 9000 miles. I tow a 23 foot fifth wheel (6800 lbs wet) through mostly mountainous terrain. I found it to be an adequate towing vehicle for that size trailer although it has slightly less power at 290HP rated than my former vehicle, a 92 Dodge Dakota with 190HP rated. This truck has the 5.3 liter engine with an automatic trans with the low speed rear end and towing mode for the transmission. The towing mode switch appears to be the same as putting the transmission in 2nd for heavy towing, (something I always did with my Dodge anyhow). Appears to me to be a gimick . . . . One thing I don't like when towing up hills is the shift points for the transmission. It goes along just fine then slams down a gear and the engine overrevs to 4-5000 RPM's. It sounds as if the engiine is going to blow . . . . A couple of things I love about this truck though is it's appearance and comfort. It is without a doubt the most comfortable truck I have ever driven. The power, leather, multi position adjustable seats on both sides is a definite plus! It handles very well although I am not overly impressed with the braking. It's adequate but not what I would expect from a truck with large 4 wheel disc brakes.I have only had two minor occassions to use the 4X4 and it seems to do just fine. The fit and finish are good and the looks are terrific. The cab is very easy to use with large gauges and simple heater and A/C controls. The huge storage box between the seats is awsome. Visibility is good and the heated mirrors and rear cab window are a very good option. The rear cab has good access and fits 2 adults just fine, even on trips of 5-6 hours duration. Overall it is a very good truck with only a few glitches that I can live with.

2002 GMC Sierra 1500 - SL 4x2 Extended Cab Long Box

    Pros: comfort of front seat

Cons: no storage compartments for over head, sunglasses, cell phone, etc.

Advice: dont buy black! Very difficult to keep clean.

The test drive was ok, we were rushed by the manager but treated wonderfully by the sales person. The handling and the room is what we needed. The brakes were a bit too touchy. Step rails supplied were not the correct rails. They were for a regular cab, not extended cab.
