Pros: auto 4 wheel drive
Cons: gas guzzler
Advice: be prepared to spend $50 - $60 plus to fill the tankI absolutely love this truck! It's a quiet, comfortable ride & it handles great through snow, rain & ice. It has so much room & a great stereo system. We've gotten up to 21MPG on the hwy a few times, but averaging about 18MPG. A little expensive to fill the tank at times, but I feel very safe while I'm driving.
Advice: very nice, but buy the nice stuff to go with it to enjoy it at its fullestVery smooth and quiet, with plenty of power.
Cons: Electrical problems
Advice: Buy something more reliableI bought a 2006 GMC Sierra Crew Cab in June of 06. The truck only has 2500 miles on it and I am already having electrical problems. The right turn signal does not work, the cruise control went out, the heater doesn't work, and the ABS and parking brake light are constantly on. I have read several reviews stating these types of problems with the 06 Sierra. I just took it in to the dealer yesterday and am waiting for a diagnostic report. You would think that GMC's quality control standards would be a little more stringent when charging $35,000 for a truck. As much as I like the way the truck looks and performs, I wish I had purchased a truck from another manufacturer.
Pros: steering wheel controls,seats
Cons: cruise control ,already after 2 weeks, and exhast leak
Advice: make sure dealer get truck ready for youlike the truck very much, but 2nd week i've had it had to go back to dealer, slight exhast leak under the the cab, cruise control not working. They have the truck, still waiting for parts for over a week now,not a happy camper.
Pros: THE LOOK OF THE TRUCK
Advice: GET THE SLT MODELMY GMC IS A GREAT TRUCK.THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT MY TRUCK IS THAT I WISH I GOT MORE GAS MILIAGE.BUT THE TRUCK IT SELF IS BUILT TUFF.THE 5.3L RUN VERY STRONG.
Pros: 5.3 liter vortec V-8
Advice: Buy it! you wont be sorry.I bought my first new Sierra in June of 04, After driving Ford, Toyota, and Dodge My Sierra blows them all away. This truck has it all comfort, power, and looks. I love the off road package and have already tested it with spectacular results. I have owned several other 4X4s in the past years and this one puts them to shame.
Pros: Plenty of room for kids and cargo
Cons: Tire wear, rides too soft
Advice: Be prepared to deal with cranky service peopleOverall I am happy with this truck. My only complaint after one year is tire wear, specifically on the right front. The truck has 13,000 plus miles and I have had one alignment and one tire rotation by dealer, and a second alignment with independent. Independent inspected and test drove truck and mentioned the shocks were bad and with warranty I should take it to the dealer. Took to dealer immediately, and because the service manager 'went to bat' for me they replaced the struts, but was told the worn tire was my problem, not theirs.
