    2006 Ford Freestyle - Limited (130A) FWD

    Pros: Creature Comforts

    Cons: Stereo

Advice: Get it quick. A wonderful Familymobile!!!

I have owned 4 vans in my life and then I got the Freestyle. What a fantastic car. I bought the car in March and already have over 16000 miles on it. It is wonderful on the road and the first car that I've owned that the gas tank outlasts my bladder. Over 500 miles on a tank. I just took a trip of over 3700 miles from Lincoln to Southern California and averaged over 27 miles per gallon, in fact between Flagstaff and Lincoln I averaged over 29 MPG. And talk about a wonderful car to drive through the mountains the transmission just ran up and down like I was driving across the flats of the plains. I only have two issues. 1. Stereo is pretty wimpy considering what it cost. 2. Where was this vehicle years ago.

    2006 Ford Freestyle - Limited (160A) AWD

    Pros: comfort

    Cons: transmission

    Advice: beware of transmission

I like the looks and comfort. The heated leather seats are nice. But, the transmission is lacking in driveability. i got stuck on Lombard St. in SF. When I got halfway up the hill the car would not move forward. I had to put in reverse and creep backward and then pull foreward to turn around. If car sits for three days or more without being started, upon starting the engine it hydraulics. Of course, Ford can not duplicate the symptoms. I left car at the dealership for a month with no results. Transmission makes noise and there is lack of power on hills. Air bag passenger lite comes on intermittently even with a 200 lb person in seat. These problems started off the car lot and still persist with 6500 miles on car. I am ready to cut my loses and buy a Toyota. My last car (a Toyota), had 300,000 miles on it when it got totaled by a client. The car only had regulary maintance performed on it and never gave me problems. I am sorry to have bought this car and is a sore subject at my home. It was my idea to purchase it and I here about it everydday. Regina

    2006 Ford Freestyle - SE (110A) FWD

    Pros: Theater style seating

Cons: The look of the vehicle

Advice: Consider getting a third row that has a split bench for optimum storage/hauling capacity

We purchased the freestyle two weeks ago as we have two small children and are adding to the family soon. We loved the idea of third row seating without the minivan look and feel. It think the 3 liter is a bit of a dog but we're coming from a Dodge Hemi so what compares? We considered the sporty and sleek looking Pacifica but the Freestyle is better on gas mileage and offered a split bench seat in the second row. We upgraded our SE with the safety package, aux climate control and traction control which brought up our price $1650 but they were important features. The Freestyle offers low gas mileage for a decent sized vehicle, adequate third row seating and plenty of leg room for my 5'10 frame in the front and back seat (not third row). The split bench second row provides extra seating if needed and storage flexibility. This is NOT my dream vehicle but it is functional, comfortable, efficient and works for this time in our lives. When the kids are grown and gone and the budget is fatter we'll be back to the horsepower and beef that I love so much.

    2006 Ford Freestyle - SEL (120A) FWD

Pros: theatre seating; comfort of driver's seat; acceleration; 7 seater

Cons: getting in and out of rear seats

Advice: If it fits your needs, go for it! We didn't buy it, and I always wonder 'what if...'?

First... I do not own this car. But we test drove it three times and strongly considered buying it. The reason we did not is because of how to get into the rear seats. The first time we tested it, I hurt my arm getting it stuck between the seat and frame when pulling the seat back into place. Well, I disregarded that as irresponsibility. However, on the third time we tested it, my daughter got her arm stuck between the floor and the seat coming down- (a moderate injury with bruising and a knot). Two injuries in three test drives didn't seem good to us. It might sound minor, but if you have younger kids and their friends that will be getting in and out and not always paying attention, it is something to consider. I loved the feel of the car and the position of the driver while driving. The acceleration was wonderful and how the transmission did not shift (which isn't really a transmission.... sorry, but I don't know how to explain it) felt different but I sensed that once accustomed to it, I would enjoy it instead of being annoyed with it.

    2006 Ford Freestyle - Limited (160A) AWD

Pros: interior space of a large SUV with gas mileage of sedan

Cons: can not tell when goes into AWD

Advice: you will enjoy the drive

I like the reverse sensors. Easier for me to see out of than the competitions.
