Cons: NoiseIts like driving a truck
Cons: Noisy cabin. The Escape is a very nice vehicle, however, it has some serious flaws. One the cabin is very noisy, especially driving against a head wind. The engine is way too noisy inside the car.
Best allround vehicle
Cons: don't knowBought used with about 60,000 miles on it. We have 188,500 miles on it now. No problems except engine code P4001. Just maintence like oil changes, brakes. Fun to drive good on the road for trips, lots of room. Has a V 6 plenty of power. We would by another one. Wife drives it to work most of time. Likes it in the snow storms we get in Iowa. It has 4 wheel drive.
Pros: Versatile--very well designed easy back seat removal for flat fold down
Cons: ROAD NOISE/wind noise...lack of soundproofing!... tested a 2010 and it was MUCH better4 cylinder 5 speed stick shift...171,000 miles with original brakes, shocks, battery and clutch.....actual mileage has been 24 to 28 mpg
Great car one of my favorite in last 52 plus years
Pros: The comfort of the ride and room.
Cons: The black carpetsA real pleasure to drive. I have a bad back and the way the seat fit's me I can drive it for several hours before I need a break. Really a good ride and good gas milage. No complaint's.
Great practical multi use vehicle
Pros: easy entry, comfortable seats, lots of storage for 'stuff', V-6 power.
Cons: I wish the mileage (17-23mpg) was a bit better.I use my 2004 Ford Escape for daily errands, occasional journeys to southern Calfornia from San Francisco, tow and launch my small sailboat every week in SF Bay... it has been trouble free, and ordinary maintenance has been reasonable.. just passed 2010 Smog requirement with great numbers. The seats are tall an comfortable, and the car is light and agile for city driving.. all in all a useful car for a wide range of needs.
