Pros: multispeed transmission/powerful 4.7L
Cons: a/c not cold enough
Advice: Just drive the differance you will love itI purchased this vehicle to replace my 1996 Ram 1500 4x4 after having multiple transmission problems.I would have to say someone in the engineering department should take a bow. I really enjoy this truck I usually dont get to excited over machines, but I have to let people know thus far its been great. The truck out pulls the old truck hands down.the other truck was a 5.9L and this one is a 4.7L... My hats off to Dodge, GOOD job guys.I would encourage anyone looking for a truck take one for a drive and you will see what you've been missing. PS. The 5.9 automatic transmission ( stay away from this set up, they know they have huge problem) is still the junk transmission 2003 5.7 will have the good one!
Pros: Sport pkg w/20' wheels, 4 full doors,
Cons: harsh ride when unloaded, gas mileage
Advice: Not for the lead footed(gas mileage)2002 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with sport pkg,4.7liter, auto, tow pkg. This is the first truck I have ever owned. I love it! It's a real head turner. I constantly receive complements on its styling. Gas mileage could be better. I avg about 18-19 mpg highway at 65mph. City mileage is pretty bad, especially if you have a heavy foot in stop and go traffic. I avg 10-12 mpg city. If the roads are not good and you don't have a load in the rear, hold onto your hats, because you're in for a rough ride. I have had a couple of defects fixed(leaking windshield, floor air is on all the time) I have put about 5000 miles on and have noticed in the last 1000 that it is starting to shift gears a little harder. Almost bought the Ford Supercrew. It had more power and slightly more rear seat room(1'), but it lacked the styling and bed size that the Dodge has. If you buy the Dodge w/20' wheels make sure you buy mud flaps, otherwise expect to have mud and dirt all over the sides of your truck. Overall I am pleased with the truck, and I think a made the best choice for my needs.. The only improvement I would make other than quality control would be a more powerful engine option. And maybe better fuel mileage, which would be wanted of any new vehicle.
Pros: The horse power from the little 4.7L V-8
Cons: The long nose takes time to gauge distance on when parking
Advice: Dodge is still assuming the role of underdog! Deal and buyPowerful, roomy, and good looking? It's amazing, I love this truck. Coming from a man who would own nothing but a Ford, this Dodge really has changed my perspective. If you're wavering, buy this truck. It's powerful, will get up and leave the Fords and especially the Chevys in the dust.
Pros: The redesigned look and the drivers seat
Cons: Gas mileage
Advice: You have to be a Truck lover to want this truck. The engine was very peppy and with the multi transmission you hardly ever feel the shifts. This truck will get up and go. And, as usual the large front seats provide a comfortable ride.
Pros: The exterior appearance and large backseat
Cons: Ride gets a little bumpy over bad roads
Advice: Don't buy this if you really want a minivan, it's a TRUCK!!!I've owned my Ram 1500 Quad Cab with the 4.7 liter engine for a month now and I haven't found anything to complain about yet. It's a well built truck with plenty of power and comfort. In fact, it's backseat is bigger than most full size sedans. In short, it's the best truck I've ever driven.
Pros: Wide Interior room & Tall Visibility, Nice Truck, Good 20' Tires
Cons: 5.9L V8, 245HP is not enought Horse Power for this 6,000 pounds heavy truck size. We need the new 5.7L, V8, 345HP.
Advice: Wait for the 2003 Ram model or install the SuperCharge Kit too boost this monster truck from 245HP to a 400HP.This is a very nice design truck. The truck can do anything and go anywhere. The appearance is the best looking truck compare to the Chevy and Ford. We like everything in this new Ram except the Ram is the weakiest power of the competition. I am very sastified when the Box empty but not when I cary 6 men and haul my 5,000 pounds board, and our two motor cycle and our camping equipment full in the trunk. We can not climb at the Rocky Mountain. If Dodge do not install the new HEMI magnum V8, 5.7L, 345HP into this 2003 Ram 1500, I will trade my 2002 Ram to another brand that have more Horspower.
Pros: 4 doors. It's a real truck, but room for the family.
Cons: It's a bit of a gas hog. Well, what do you expect?
Advice: If you're going to tow a lot of weight, get the 373 gears, towing package, and 5.9 motor. Otherwise the small V8 is really great. This is one cool truck. Bought in 10/01, now have 5K miles. Not a single problem, not even one. Runs like a clock, very comfortable, tons of room and storage. Got the 4.7 motor; plenty of power and wouldn't want to get worse gas mileage. Everyone complains of firm ride and gas consumption. Yes to both, however on the road I average 19, 14 combined. But you have to keep your foot out of it around town to get any mileage, otherwise you get 12. With a few hundred pounds in the box the ride is much improved. Well, it is a truck, isn't it? Seating and controls are very nice. That windshield really slopes, now doesn't it? Overall finish is superb, and the new styling is awesome. Mine is white, so I can put some custom paint on it when the weather warms up. 17' wheels are really cool, sits higher than the others, comes with everything I wanted standard. Got traction lock limited slip diff instead of 4X4; works great offroad too. Stereo with Infinity speakers is very nice. Stainless exhaust and a mean truck sound. I love my new truck, even better than I expected.
