Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The power of the V8
Cons: Climate control fan sounds like a jet and doesn't move much air.
Advice: Look at the Dakota lastI'm a Honda/Nissan fan and I never would have considered a Dodge...until I read consumer reports. Their review convinced me to check out the Dakota. The fit and finish is very good, the materials are excellent, smooth ride, and lots of cargo and people room. And with the long warranty, rebate and financing, I was sold. As other reviews mentioned, get the V8. Same gas mileage as V6, but way more power.
Cons: distance between back and front seats
Advice: Compare with S-10 and RangerImpressed with the comfort of the ride and handling. This truck handles better than comparably priced passenger cars. With the V-6 Magnum engine and an automatic transmission, this vehicle has plenty of power for its everyday use of my means of transportation to and from work, with plenty left over for the weekends of hauling home improvement materials. I highly recommend this vehicle to all consumers looking at Chevy S-10's and Ford Rangers. I had a Ranger, there is no comparison, the Dakota wins hands down!!!
Pros: The sound of the 4.7L V8 makes when entering a hyway
Cons: The gas milage, but that's what you get from a V8
Advice: This vehicle is great for family tripsI bought my first Dodge, the Dakota Quadcab about 10 months back and and I'm very impressed with this truck. I've owned trucks from Ford, Chevy and little trucks from Japan. They can't match my Dodge so far. I feel this mid-size truck has excellant quality, comfort and performance plus the styling is first class.
Pros: V8 power
Cons: No stake pockets in the bed
Advice: Get the 3.92 lsd rear-endI bought the same truck I drove for the test drive, I had the salesman with me so I didn't get to try it out real hard but I really liked it. It was very car like in its feel and driving manor. The best part is it didn't feel like your butt was on the ground, and I could see over and around other vehicles. It had great power, and was quiet with no annoying noises that shouldn't have been there. It was hard to park at first getting used to it, But I came from a Cavilier, so it wasn't the trucks fault.
Pros: Blowing the doors off those annoying and loud souped up honda civics
Cons: Using grade 87 fuel will cause a loud rattling noise durring jack rabbit take-offs.
Advice: Get the R/T 5.9L 4x4Even on the 3.9L V6, the optimal performance of the vehicle is wonderful. The accessories are easy to retrieve through mopar or the local dealership, and it easily upgrds the appearance of the truck. The cockpit of the truck is unique in its class, offering excellent visability. And the towing capibilities are supurb for a compact truck.
