Research New Crossovers

A crossover is a car-based vehicle that combines features of sport utility vehicles with features of other large passenger vehicles. New crossovers are popular with families and with people who have active, busy lifestyles, since they’re available with a wide array of feature combinations. Some new crossover SUVs are built to drive like a station wagon or large car, but have sport utility styling elements; other crossovers incorporate more sport utility functionality for off roading capability or improved towing capacity.

It’s important to understand, though, that new crossovers are cars, not trucks, no matter how much they might look like sport utility vehicles. The difference is that sport utility vehicles are built on truck platforms, which gives them the strength to perform truck-like tasks. Crossovers are built on car platforms, so even if they boast especially big cargo areas or have been given all-wheel-drive capability (this feature is most common on crossovers from manufacturers who have a high-end all-wheel-drive wagon or sedan in the lineup) they’ll perform better than the average car, but their limitations will fall short of a true sport utility vehicle. Since so many new crossovers on the market closely resemble small sport utility vehicles (which is deliberate, of course), new crossover buyers should be careful to ensure they’re getting what they really want, and what they pay for. Since new crossovers are targeted towards families with a bit of money to spare, new and recently refreshed crossover models come with a lot of options and features. Buyers can choose engine types, cabin configurations (some new crossovers even have third-row seating, a popular family feature) and technology upgrades, along with plenty of safety features to ensure a smooth trip. In the end, a new crossover SUV will provide reliability, comfort, enough power to enjoy the journey, and enough space for passengers to ride comfortably with all their cargo.
