Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: I like the look and the comfort of the entire vehicle
Cons: I would like a buttom to open the rear flip gate inside the vehicle
Advice: Check out the diesel version that is supposed to get 25% more MPGI'm a big guy and yet it is comfortable to drive. Handles well and very easy to get into and out of tight parking spots. When you consider the price it really is a great vehicle to own.
Pros: The looks, comfort.
Cons: No arm rest
Advice: Shop dealers to make sure you get the best trade in.The Scion XB is quiet, performs well given the 108 HP. It is an excellent car and feels and drives like a machine, like the VW Beetle I use to own. It a great car and will probably own it for a long time.
Pros: Navigation w/rear camera
Cons: Lack of Customer Service
Advice: Ask people who own one if they like the dealership, you wont get any help from Lexus Headquarters if something goes wrong!!This is my 2nd RX and I love it. I previously had an RX300 but wanted the navigation system so I traded it for the 330. The car itself has been great; absolutely no problems. The poor rating comes from customer service or the lack of. Lexus has much to learn about satisfying their customers when things dont go right. Prior to closing the sale they promise you the best customer service offered, but after the sale you'd think you had bought a used Hyundai. The dealership, a certain royal one in Ontario Ca, was less than satisfactory as was Lexus Headquarters when calling or writing to them. While I do get great service from Oakland Lexus now, the whole experience has left me a bit sour on getting a third Lexus.
Pros: The fact that i can drive this car from New York to L.A with less than 5 tanks of gas :)
Cons: The way the engine works. It's a little unnerving the first while.
Advice: Be sure to get the proper warranty so that the special hybrid parts are covered. The acceleration, power and overall behavior of the car and its suspension pleasantly surprised me. I got into the Hybrid as a critic and came out very pleased. I really think now that this is the kind of car everyone will be driving within only a few years. If i was actually looking for a brand new car, i'd buy this one. This vehicle really IS an SUV that consumes very little gas and offers all the features of a normal SUV. While you can't quite expect the acceleration and torque to equal to that of a full-gasoline car; the strength of the hybrid was a surprise. It certainly matches...say...a 2001 Tracker. which is good; as long as you're not looking to race this vehicle uphill. Overall, mechanically it does seem to work as well as any other SUV. Also, if you are mechanically inclined: don't worry about not understanding what is going on under the hood. you can get a basic knowledge of it in under 5 minutes if you actually get to look at the engine(s). seriously, it's surprisingly simple. Esthetically, this is a good looking car. The exterior is neat and aerodynamic and the enterior is roomy and comfortable. new generation features and all. no complaints. The only problem during the entire drive was a psychological one; the way the engine switched from electric to gas automatically and how quiet it was when the car would roll to a stop was almost scary. But after about 20 minutes, i got almost used to it. if i had a few more days, i'd probably get used to it completely. Also, that scared feeling would probably fade away if i actually owned the car and drove it past a gas station once in a while. Because what that technological-quiet equals money being saved. and that annoyingly familiar dependance on the pump fading, of course.
Pros: OPTIONS! OPTIONS! OPTIONS!
Cons: No Sunroof! I did have one professionally installed aftermarket for $695. But it would have been a greay option from Toyota.
Advice: Acceleration is a bit lacking. It takes some time to break it in, but break it YOU CAN!It's like driving from your couch. This roomy designed box lives up to the Toyota name. It's a very deceptive look, as all of my friends in family kept on repeating, 'I can't believe how much room this thing has!' Customizing my XB was the best part. From lighting up your cupholders to picking out your wheels,...FUN, FUN FUN! I don't like the fact that the lock/unlock goes not have a horn sound, even if you get the alarm installed. I got use to that feature with all my other cars. It always makes me second guess if I have locked/armed my wagon. I love the looks I get when riding down the street. Either people are thinking it's the weirdest designed car they have ever seen, or they think it's interesting. Either way, I love the attention. And that being said, if you decide to buy an XB, you are definately going to get alot of that!
Pros: Running board on both sides of vehicle.
Cons: No place to put my pocketbook when I have a front seat passenger.
Advice: If your a woman, consider the Chevy Equinox.I own this vehicle. I like the ride, and the gas mileage, however the only fault I find with the ford vehicles, is that there is no place to put a hand bag that keeps it in close proximity to the driver's seat. Chevy has a space between the seats of their Equinox. That may become my next vehicle only because of the place given for the purse or briefcase. Ford should take note that many women purchase their vehicles and therefore, they should pay attention to the things that women need, as well as what the male population desires. THanks. i OW
Pros: The look of the vehicle
Cons: Needs cruise control and needs a arm rest
Advice: buy the vehicle you will have fun in it.Its ugly but it is cute. I just love this car. The gas mileage is GREAT!!!. Traded a 1996 Tahoe and this vehicle is better and fun to drive. Plus I can fit it in my garage with alot of space left over. Friends did not like the look of it until they rode in it and now I can not keep them out of it.
