Best Car for the Money
Pros: The Hemi engine's response and performance
Cons: Ride a little rough compared to a LincolnAs a former Lincoln Town owner for several years I was initially apprehensive about buying a Chrysler product but boy was I wrong. so far the 300 has been everything I hoped for and more: dependable, good gas mileage for a Hemi and plenty of get up and go
Pros: Spacious interior
Cons: the 2.7 Liter V6
Advice: Get the 3.5 Liter V6 or larger engine.I would not buy any vehicle with a Chrysler 2.7 Liter V6 since it is drasticaLLY underpowered when moving a nearly two ton motor vehicle. My opinion of this car improves with the 3.5 Liter V6 or a V8. The SRT-8 is a dream to drive in town or on the road.
Pros: Automatic transmission
Cons: 2.7 liter powerplant
Advice: do not buy itThe 2.7 Liter powerplant is always unacceptable to me because of it being underpowered for a car of this size\. It has a reliability issue with me.
Pros: The look of the dash, the interior features, styling.
Cons: Stiff ride with road noise.
Advice: Do not rule out the base model untill you test drive - it is a fair performer.I purchased the base model 300, as I just cannot see adding many thousands to a car that already had many 'luxury' items that would have been extra a few years ago. That being said, it is easy to find the alloy wheels at a reasonable price - just ask for new car 'take-offs' - that and $20 for a little plastic chrome trim - and there you go. I really do not agree with the reviews that complain that the 2.7 engine is too small - I feel it has good response, and hauls the 3700 pound car quite well. The handling is good, but I find the ride a bit stiff with a some tire noise. All in all, I feel it is a lot of car - and great styling - for the price.
Advice: do not buy itI purchased my Chrysler 300 in November of 2006. Since then it has been in the shop numerous times. It started where the injectors needed cleaning. Next, the catalytic converter needed replacing. The back window motor needed replacing and now I am having trouble with the gears not changing properly when 1st taking off. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and the most expensive. Take my advice, do not waste your time. I have spoken with several other Chrysler owners and none of them are happy.
