BMW 330i - Love the drive, hate the expences!!
Cons: Poor Built of some parts and poor electronics!Pros: Fantastic Handling, less power compared to competition like the Lexus IS350. The steptronic tranny is nice. Average fuel efficiency. Cons - Suspention parts falling apart only at 80,000km, few sensors needed change, all brakes had to be replaced, rust and even much more. All this after babying the car with everything best. My 2004 Accord has 180,000 km and till date had not needed any parts replaced except the front brakes and rotors. Much more comfortable as well.
Love my first BMW
Pros: responsiveness and a feeling when driving that I have never experienced with any other vehicle
Cons: just want a newer model nowdrives great, unbelievable warranty for 4 years. Solid, incredible feel when driving. I never arrive late to work even if I leave late!
Cons: $7500 repair billHaving had decent relations with BMW for several years the engine in my convertible tried to self destruct this February. Apparently there is a known cold weather blemish with their M54 engine's oil separator. It freezes, crankcase oil is sucked into the intake and hydrolocks the cylinders. This happens with little warning. In my case I missed the black exhaust for a couple of hundred yard prior to the lockup. It seems BMWNA really could care less about doing the right thing and prefers to point at their warranty. Anyone with that otherwise sterling engine should get their separators replace with the upgraded version.
Pros: Her overall sassy look.
Cons: The run flat tires.Bought this 330i sedan as a CPO. If it wasn't for the 'run flat tires' ... my satisfaction would would be at 100% excellence. Other than that, I have no complaints and enjoy driving her with lot's of pride.
Pros: Power top
Cons: All the problems I had
Advice: Watch for electrical problems while under warrantyI have owned it since Oct. 2002. It is a 2003 model year and has been a pain in the butt since I bought it. Dealership trips never resulted in a repair, only more problems (when the clicking comes from the window going down it concerns me). Electrically the car is a nightmare. Out of warranty I have had to install a new door latch for the driver's side (remote stopped working) as well as a new door lock assembly (may be my fault for not knowing the vehicle and following the instructions in a $120.00 manual). Since that time the GPS has failed for 1.5 weeks and the passenger door lock has worked intermittently. I am a retired automotive technician and I can't find a whole lot of info to fix this junk. BMW keeps it to themselves just for the reason of having you bring it back to them. I am shopping now to replace this crate and buy something that the maufacturer will give out the info so anyone competent can do the repair. Never again will I own a BMW, I thought they were supposed to be a good vehicle.
Pros: Can't think of one
Cons: So unreliable
Advice: Buy Japanese vehicles- I traded a Toyota Avalon (70,000 miles- no problems) for this BMW- big waste of money. This car is overpriced and over-hyped. It is not that comfortable, and is certainly not reliable. 3 out of 4 windows have malfunctioned at the cost of $350 ea., radiator, air conditioner, lights have had to be repaired at great cost. A relative gas hog for the size of the engine. Be cautious buying the sport package- the tires are noisy and wear down fast- with repacement costing around $1100 mounted.
