A family performer
Pros: Rides like a sedan, goes in snow(quattro)
Cons: N/AMy Audi Allroad was purchased new , Oct '03. It has been relatively trouble free, with about 62k miles. It will go in all kinds of weather, rainsqualls on the interstate, or 10' of new snow in the Rockies or Cascades. Unfortunately, Audi has decided not to import the new Allroads to US. It seems they are too competitive to their Q7. We will have a tough time finding a replacement. An SUV does not even come close to the Allroad's comfort and manners. In short, one of the best cars I've ever owned!
Pros: awd---wet road stability & dry road GRIP
Cons: spare key was $150!!!!
Advice: shop around. i saw prices range from 19k to 26k.very quick and nimble here in the canyons of utah. excellent power on demand with quatro handling---CANT BEAT IT!!!! ride is a little firm on the freeway but comfort of leather interior makes up for it.
Cons: acceleration problem
Advice: wait to see the outcome of acceleration issueI bought an A8 in July 05. Shortly after taking delivery I was on the freeway and the car began accelerating quickly even after the brakes were applied. Dealership said that perhaps I hit the cruise control or the manual shifting pedals. It happen again about a week or two later. After testing at the dealership they proclaim no problem- that again I must have hit a button. 3 days ago it happened on the freeway with my wife driving by herself. Needless to say the event has dramatized her a great deal. The dealership has the car- and as far as I am concerned they can have it. Waiting to see the outcome
Pros: Memory passenger seat as well as driver seat is nice when two of us switch off driving.
Cons: The extra fancy wheels are difficult to clean, but pretty. Needs premium fuel.
Advice: Be prepared to enjoy.Have owned for 3 years now and what's not to love? Beautiful German fit, finish and styling. Excellent power and handling. Quiet and powerful. You will not find any vehicle with a more luxurious interior. The materials are top notch, no cheap plastics or vinyls in this beast. Very thoughtful control layout and at night the cockpit looks like a 747 with its red backlit knobs and instruments. Every control, including the rear door power window switches and all the interior door handles are backlit with red lighting. Very thoughtful touch and very elegant looking..day or night.
Pros: The all wheel drive.
Cons: The fact that the luggage bars do not match the trim.
Advice: Read 'Consumer's Reports'We drove both the A6 Avant & the AllRoad. Both were quick off the line, easy to handle, took bumps, rough road, and turns at speed with the ease and comfort of a bigger car. Having also driven the BMW 540i wagon, I feel the Audi is a much better buy for the money ($20,000.00 less!).
