    2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse - GT

    Pros: Smooth, sleek body design

Cons: Small trunk and teracotta leather interior

Advice: Buy the six cylinder to enjoy the handling

The GT has excellent power and responsiveness. Visibility forward, out the side windows and out the rear is good with limited sight in the typical blind spots. Side view mirror placement is further back than expected with small mirrors. Shifting is smooth and firm. 5th is a slight reach with no feeling you're going into 3rd or 5th. 1st is easy to start out in. The ride is firm and cornering level. Braking is firm but not stiff. Engine compartment is full. The battery is located at the firewall and has a cross member covering a corner. The trunk is shallow due to the 17.7 gallon gas tank and full-size spare. Road noise is very minimal. Doors are solid with a window sealing feature. Front seats are comfortable but leave no room for rear seat foot space when the front seats are pushed back. Headroom is acceptable for the average male but not for all people. If you drive this car and aren't used to the power, you'll enjoy the acceleration. Make sure you drive the car at night to appreciate the interior lighting, gauges and headlights.

    2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse - GT

Pros: New style is much classier than the previous model.

Cons: The color selection is better suited to midsized grocery-getters and not a sports car.

Advice: Keep your foot out of it or you will swear you're driving an SUV every time you gas up.

Finally, An Eclipse that runs as good as it looks! Plenty of power and responsiveness to spare. Everything was tight and very little road noise for a car in this class and price range. Very Impressive!

    2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution - MR (M6)

Pros: AWD, turbocharged engine, speed, Recaro seats, great warranty, styling.

Cons: No security system, no cruise control, expensive tires, cheap radio.

Advice: Go straight for the MR edition, much better car than the standard or RS version.

When the MR edition came out, I traded in my 03 Evo for one. The MR is so much better, the 6-speed, clutch, and driving experience is much more pleasant than my other Evo. The car is so fast, performs great, interior space is great, and I love the looks. Kids from high school give me thumbs up all the time when I drive by. The car however does need cruse control, and a security system. And watch for dealer markups on these cars. My opinion to you is to wait for the 06 Evo, it will be freshin up a bit. And if you can, wait for the 07 Evo which will be an all new model.

2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GTS

    Pros: steering wheel audio controls

    Cons: nothing

Advice: Go for it! It's the best value for a convertible out there!

After the test drive - I was sold. And I absolutely LOVE it! Best car I've ever owned! (Have had it a month now).

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GS

Pros: Car looks awesome, very sleek. Solid, heavy car, great ride.

Cons: Severe windshield slanting puts windsheild frame right in your face. You have to look around it to see where you're going.

Advice: If you buy it, they'll just keeping making more, so don't.

I test drove this and wound up getting a PT Cruiser convertible. Why? Because with the top down, the top windshield frame was right in my face. The windsheild slant is way too severe. No one who owns this will tell you this because they won't admit it, because it looks so awesome and sleek. But, you should see the road when you look straight ahead, not the windsheild frame. Terrible, terrible design.

    2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse - GS

    Pros: The 'Look'

Cons: When you bring back up the top the windows go down.

Advice: BUY BUY BUY it makes the BMW look like a cheap ride with thousands of dollars less.

The 2002 Eclipse Spyder is off the hook. I bought it in Red with black leather interior. I put 18' inch rims with low profile tires on it. The car handles with ease hugs the road like a trooper I have hit 130 MPH and it handles like a Vette. The body of this car is such a beauty that it turns heads everyway I go. But then again I got the florescent lights on the bottom. I also got the Lamborginin doors to boot so the car is off the chain!

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GS

    Pros: Convertible

Cons: Not sure if suspension is as forgiving as it could be over bumps....

    Advice: Do it. It's hot.

Perfect California car! Took it for a test and came out of the experience claiming that it was fun to drive -- comment I didn't make about the other cars I test drove that weekend. Only got the 4-cyl but it is still quite nimble and quick. Got the price down to $2500 less than book from the dealer and snatched it up. Former owner had paperwork for every little thing he did to it so am confident was very well cared for car. Drove Sebring Convertible below. Had a 96 which was gorgeous but this time opted for this Eclipse and glad I did. Bigger than my 96 Miata and smaller than my 96 Sebring. Nice...!
