Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The looks of the exterior
Cons: The stick shift.
Advice: It's a great car but take into consideration where you live! The car looks great and has a smooth ride. There is quite a bit of outside noise when driving but not by far the worst. The stick shift is a little sticky when shifting. This vehicle is terrible on the snow and slides a little in heavy rain. I overall love my mitz and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty vehicle, providing you live in a dryer section of the US. Living in Wisconsin this is a great summer vehicle but wouldn't recommend it for the frozen tundra.
Pros: The big v6
Cons: the cup holders right behind the stick
Advice: Check out your insurance before you buy surprisingly the GT is cheaper for insurance due to the antilock breaks. The ride is great. Good handling, great excelleration, only with the turning radius was better. If you need to flip a U better have 3 or 4 clear lanes cause you are gonna need it.
Pros: Leather interior
Cons: rear view could be improved
Advice: This is an awesome vehicle!I purchased an '03 mitsubishi eclipse GTS and I love it. The smooth ride, sound system, moonroof, 17inch tires, 210hp, appearance. This is my 3rd mitsu and my 2nd eclipse and I have never had major problems with any of my prior mitsubishi cars.
Pros: Good performance, tight steering, soft suspension.
Cons: Occupied cup holders hinder operation of standard shifting.
Advice: Check into the zero, zero, zero specials Mitsubishi is having. You can finance for a year with no payments / interest then re-finance at a decent interest rate saving a lot of money. The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a very well built entry-level sports car. Don't expect to take off like a rocket, but do expect a comfortable amount of power and looks at a very reasonable price. There are a few considerations you might want to make before purchasing this vehicle though. First, the cup holders will hinder the operation of the standard stick shift. Mitsubishi put them directly behind the shifter. So when you go to Taco Bell you may want to go with the medium drink. Second, it is covered with nooks and crannies that can hold water. This means that after a long day washing the car you'll still get water streaks after you take it on the road. Third, you will want to make sure you have at least three lanes to make a u-turn. The turning radius leaves quite a bit to be desired. With this cars low profile you'll want to make sure you keep away from those curbs. All in all this is a great car. I love mine and intend to keep it for quite a while.
Pros: INFINITY RADIO
Cons: EVERYTHING BUT THE RADIO
Advice: PASS THE MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP UP!THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS HAVE INCURRED SINCE MY PURCHASE: SUNROOF RATTLES CONSTANLY AND GETS STUCK OPEN/CLOSED, ENGINE TICKS AND AIR CONDITION WENT OUT 1 WEEK AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. THESE ARE JUST A FEW PROBLEMS MENTIONED. MITSU SERVICE REALLY STINKS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SPEAK TO SERVICE DISTRICT MANAGER AT BRYAN MITSU AND ALL YOU GET IS ATTITUDE.
