Pros: comfortable and responsive handling
Cons: can't pinpoint anything at this time
Advice: consider this suv very strongly when looking at others in this classJust bought this suv a couple of days ago and it is everything I invisioned it to be consistant with earlier test drives. You get a lot of vehicle for a very fair price. The interior is plain but very nice looking and seats are quite comfortable. The handling feels secure and the suspension is taut but supple. It's an easy car to drive. The braking feels secure and stops efficiently. For it's 140hp,the engine with it's 157ft lbs of torque has good get-up and go.Having the sportronic automatic transmission with the choice of manually shifting clutchless is a real bonus. All in all,I highly suggest checking out this suv. There is much to like and it has many pluses that I think will be appealing to many people.
Advice: Its a good valueI think that the fit and finish of this little SUV was better than average for its price, the ride is not as soft as I would like but not harsh either, the radio and A/C controls are located within reach except for the mirror controls which are almost hidden.I wish mitsu would use a springloaded tilt control on the steering wheel its much more functional than the lever they have chosen,Interior materials are nice and appear to be durable and easy to clean, the back seats recline back which I thought was a nice feature and makes a passengers ride much more comfortable, cargo room is limited but ample for grocery duties and light hauling,I thknk that a slightly larger engine would propel this vehicles sales easily although its not sluggish it lacks horsepower on the top end and at 70 mph runs at 3000 rpm which is a little steeper than Im used too, but gas milage on long trips have yeilded 25/26 mph,as far as the sportronic goes its a nice touch but the vehicle is too under powered to be used effectivly, looks are great and overall i think it will be a great littel SUV.
Advice: drive for a long 30 minutes before you decideTest drove on a very cold day in Montreal and was not impressed ata ll with the heating for that car. The vehicle ishandles very well except with the wired shifting noise while using the Sportronic feature. The engine noise is very high for such a vehicle. The interior is quit nice but the controls are placed far from the driver. Seat is not as comfortable as it should be. The cargo light is far out of reach when standing outside the vehicle and does not provide enough light for the area..
Pros: Smooth, Looks sweet, peppy on the road.
Cons: The constant attention it attracts.
Advice: Outlander = Great Valuethe outlander is a sweet riding SUV. It is very smooth and it handles like a car. Needs a larger rear seat but is excellent in quality, quietness and comfort appeal.
Pros: Great Comfort, Nice handling, futuristic looks.
Cons: Needs a better sound system
Advice: One of the better in its class!A great drive. Good power and effective brakes. Looks great and they are high in demand. The Oulander drives like a car, very simple and easy to function. It seems reliable and is built on the Galants platform. Visibility is great from all angles. Acceleration sucks, but isn't any better on other mini SUV's. I tested nearly all the mini-SUV's CR-V, RAV-4, Forester, Outlander, Escape, Santa-Fe and Xterra, but the Oulander was the most all round in comfort, power, looks, reliability, and dealer service.
Pros: Comfort, good looks, reliable, good quality, car like steering/braking, zippy
Cons: Needs a V6, it would be so much nicer with one.
Advice: Such a good car/SUV. Its a great buy.The Outlander is one of Mitsubishis attempts yet. I have always loved Fords, Hondas and Mercedes. When I saw the Outlander i was convinced that this was the car for me. When I went to my Mitsu dealer, I expected the car to be nice, but It drove awsome. My wife also wanted one and she traded in her '00 CRV for it. Everyone in our neighbourhood is astonished at our cars. It rides exactly like a car and has the retro/flashy look that got everyone going mad. My neighbour who has a Volksawgen called my wifes's Outlander(which is in silver), a 'cheap BMW X5'. I called it a mini-X5!!
Pros: The high reliability, quiet ride, good looks
Cons: tight trunk room
Advice: I totally reccomend it!The Outlander is a great simple functioning exotic looking mini SUV. Even though it has a small engine/displacement, I never felt the lack of power. Everything in the car is very Mitsubishi.......japaneese looking and full of quality. I know the car is reliable because its a Mitsubishi and has already won two awards from J.D Power. The brakes are great and the handling is soft. The styling is radical and the rear is Lexus like.
