2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - XLS 4x2
Cons: Likes the juice
Advice: Atleast consider itThis is my first SUV and I am pleased; however, I have one conflict. The A/C compressor makes a loud click sound when it starts cycling. I am wondering if it's about to go out. Anyway, overall I am really enjoying this truck. I've had it off-road several times and it poses great performance. I almost bought a 4 runner, but this seemed like as much vehicle for less money. I recommend it to everyone.

2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - ES (EOP November 2002) 4x4
Advice: Buy it!This SUV performs best when full of passengers and luggage. The suspension and power is adequate even on rough roads, ice or snow. I love the lift off the ground, 8.5 '. It steers well and handles like a sports car (sort of). For a fairly large vehicle, it parks like a dream. I am planning to work on the intake and modify the suspension to take off road driving better. A great deal at 28K loaded with ABS, 4 wheel discs, and appearance package!!
2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - ES (EOP November 2002) 4x2
Pros: the 8.5 inch lift above the ground
Cons: gas gusler
Advice: to purchase one of these SUV'sThe best thing about the Montero Sport vechicle is the smooth ride, and the 8.5 inch lift above the ground. Also the appearance of the vechilce is sharp, right along with the lugage rack on top of the SUV. The interior of the vechicle is also sharp with bucket seats and with extra storage space. The handling of the vechile is so relaxing it's like sitting in the Lazy-boy at home. That could be a woory. But I will enjoy driving my new Sport Utility Vechicle and hope to have shared great moments with my family. I am also pleaseed by the extra cargo space located in the rear of the SUV. Along with the compartments located in the back. It has also extra room for the kids car seats in t he back adjacent with the anchor locks on the bottom and top to insure you for the safety of the SUV. I am also pleased with the dash board being shortened so that the driver and the passenger could have extra room to enjoy the ride. Also the extra compartments on top of the center of the car. This is a plus. Well Iam headed off to enjoy the New vechicle and go share the great moments with my loved ones. Thank you for your time nd concern.
2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - XLS 4x4
Pros: The ride!
Cons: Fuel mileage
Advice: Shop at carmax if you can. Don't go for the 0/0 financing. The XLS handles great on the open road and off road. You feel a few bumps from time to time, but after all it is a more of a truck than a car. I was a bit concerned about HP prior to test driving, but now find the 197 HP to be awesome! The tranny and torque give you plenty of power and excellent acceleration for highway mergers. The lower mileage is a trade off for the extra power. If you are looking for a solid mid sized suv and are not bent on having a car chassis, this is a great vehicle. If you get it with leather seating, you will have almost all of the bells and whistles of the higher priced suv's with a few bumps along the way.
2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - LTD 4x4
Pros: looks nice from the outside
Cons: interior design
Advice: need to discount the msrp by about 25%Looking for an SUV for my wife. Overall drive was just ok. Did not 'feel' safe, felt like I was going to tip over if I took a corner to fast. so I didn't. Outside looks sharp, nice lines. Inside looks very dated, almost 70ish. Did not feel like I was inside a $29-30,000 vehicle, more like 21-22,000. My biggest disappointment was actually with the dealership. They 'qualified' my for their zero payments for one year and zero interest for the life of the loan. (36 months after first year for total of 48 mos) Then the salesman quoted me a price that was over $1500 MORE than the sticker in the window of the vehicle. Wanted over $32,000 base, plus dealer markups, taxes, etc. for over $35,000!!!! ( I paid less for my Infiniti I35 loaded including nav system) I felt quite insulted. Was also told the Limited had power seats, it does not. Very poor job of showing the car and features. I informed him I would not pay more than $24,000 for the vehicle and HE looked shocked. Needless to say, no sale.
2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - ES 4x2
Pros: Comfort and overall apperance
Cons: Wiper controls and Noise from wind when the window is down
Advice: For the money, comfort I find this a very good choice in a SUVIn the test drive I like the way the auto handeled in traffic and on the open road. The ride was smooth, very quite inside, seating comfort was good. Most of all my wife liked it and to be honest I find it enjoyable to drive and the overall apperance is great. For the price and value I find this to be a great auto to own.
