KBB.com 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage Overview
Someone at Mitsubishi forgot to tell the Mirage it's an economy car. Apparently hanging around a parking lot filled with Eclipses and Galants had unintended consequences for the little Mitsubishi. It loves to run, handles very well, looks terrific, has a great cockpit and is nicely loadedeven in base form. This is a great car for anyone who wants something a little more perky but must adhere to budgetary constraints. If the Mirage coupe and sedan are not high on your radar screen, it's a shame, because these little gas sippers really deserve a test drive.
The Mirage DE is powered by a 1.5-liter engine; while short on power, the little motor is long on fuel economy. If you can swing the extra cash, the LS is the car you want. Its more powerful 1.8-liter engine still makes the grade as a high mileage champ, but offers so much more oomph as to make driving a delight, especially on the sporty coupe with its 5-speed manual. As the 2001 model year comes to a close, the Mirage sedans will be phased out to make way for the all-new Lancer, but Mitsubishi tells us the Mirage Coupe will continue for 2002.
