2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GT

Pros: The ease of top and how it is stowed away.

Cons: Tilt steering wheel needs more upward travel (typical of most Japanese cars).

    Advice: Give Mitsubishi a shot.

Great pickup, decent handling (ya it's not a true 'sports car' for handling but at least you can drive it everyday!). The top and stereo are top notch. Styling is eye catching.

2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GTS

    Pros: steering wheel audio controls

    Cons: nothing

Advice: Go for it! It's the best value for a convertible out there!

After the test drive - I was sold. And I absolutely LOVE it! Best car I've ever owned! (Have had it a month now).

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GS

Pros: Car looks awesome, very sleek. Solid, heavy car, great ride.

Cons: Severe windshield slanting puts windsheild frame right in your face. You have to look around it to see where you're going.

Advice: If you buy it, they'll just keeping making more, so don't.

I test drove this and wound up getting a PT Cruiser convertible. Why? Because with the top down, the top windshield frame was right in my face. The windsheild slant is way too severe. No one who owns this will tell you this because they won't admit it, because it looks so awesome and sleek. But, you should see the road when you look straight ahead, not the windsheild frame. Terrible, terrible design.

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GS

    Pros: Convertible

Cons: Not sure if suspension is as forgiving as it could be over bumps....

    Advice: Do it. It's hot.

Perfect California car! Took it for a test and came out of the experience claiming that it was fun to drive -- comment I didn't make about the other cars I test drove that weekend. Only got the 4-cyl but it is still quite nimble and quick. Got the price down to $2500 less than book from the dealer and snatched it up. Former owner had paperwork for every little thing he did to it so am confident was very well cared for car. Drove Sebring Convertible below. Had a 96 which was gorgeous but this time opted for this Eclipse and glad I did. Bigger than my 96 Miata and smaller than my 96 Sebring. Nice...!

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GT

    Pros: Convertible Top

Cons: Space in Back for passengers

Advice: Make sure you really like it. It's a beauty but car fits two people comfortably. This car is more for single college guys

Great Speed, really smooth. With the convertible top on it's a little tough to see in the back. As long as you are planning on driving one more person you are fine. It's very cramped in the back. Many of my friends are very tall but manage.

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - GS

Pros: The radio controls on the steering wheel!

Cons: The extremely tiny back window (& the spoiler on the back cuts this tiny space in half making it that much more difficult to see w/the top up)

Advice: Buy it, just make sure that you get a good deal (like a leftover or 0% financing) since it's actually kind-of high priced. Other than that, just buy it, put the top down & have a great time! :)

I must admit that I am a bit biased because I dreamed about this car for years before I was actually able to buy it. It's true that the GS is not for street racing or anything like that, but it still has decent pick-up. It is also extremely quiet & has a surprisingly smooth ride. I have the optional leather package on mine & find it to be very high in quality (especially the steering wheel) & also nice to look at (of course). The top goes down VERY easily with the flip of 2 switches & the touch of a button. On the negative side, the back window is absolutely minuscule, the backseat is very cramped & small & the boot takes up most of the trunk (but it's a convertible, so what do you expect?). Also, I used to own a New Beetle (which I hated) & took the good gas mileage for granted because the Spyder's gas mileage isn't terrible, but is nothing to brag about either. Overall, I'd say that it's a fantastic car that handles great & looks even better. So if you want a convertible but can't afford to spend a fortune, I highly recommend the Eclipse!
