    2005 MINI Cooper S - Convertible

    Pros: Top and handling

Cons: back up visibility, but you get used to it...love the back up sensors

Advice: If you want fun and economy with great handling - buy it!!

More fun to drive than my Audi TT Roadster...love the sunroof and top. Brakes, transmission and steering are all excellent. Always over 35 to the gallon..

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

Pros: This car handles better than any car I have driven. Steering response is superb, since the lock to lock is 2.5 turns and the suspension system is designed to match.

Cons: Nothing- the car is outstanding.

Advice: Make sure you get limited slip differential and special suspension system. This allows crisp cornering.

I had a MIata. Wonderful car. The Mini takes corners with ease and always seems capable of more. The Mini S is very quick, has excellent acceleration and if one drives with care, high mileage is possible on the highway: 44.1 mpg one time, 41.5 another. Around my small town, 30mpg. Sound system is super. I enjoy feeling the road. Seats are very comfortable. Car has numerous safety features. Visibility is superior to that of vast majority of cars. Interior is roomy. We have taken four with ease and comfort. My son is 6/2 and he says it is the nicest car he has ever driven. Ride is quiet at high speeds. Corners are fun to take even just darting around town. My wife loves this car- she wants a Mini, too. Boot is roomy and the fold down seats create even more. This car is fun, efficient, adaptable and has personality other vehicles can only dream of.

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Convertible

    Pros: Performance.

Cons: Haven't found the down-side yet.

Advice: Don't expect to haul a 4x8 piece of plywood in it but it does just fine for a weekend's worth of bagage for me and the wife. The back seats will do OK for taking another couple to dinner but don't think you want to take anyone on a road trip back there.

I was looking at Mercedes SLKs and CLKs and BMW 3 series convertibles. But with gas prices what they are, I saw the Mini Cooper S (same dealership as the BMW) and fell in love with it. Handles great, accelerates like a rocket - couldn't justify the additional cost and it out-performs my '67 Triumph GT6.

    2005 MINI Cooper S - Convertible

Pros: Convertible Convertible Convertible Performance Performance Performance!!!!!

Cons: Most BMW dealers are not Mini dealers and most Mini dealers seem to be ignorant, lying jerks

Advice: Buy through a credit union or inland state to avoid huge markups. Some dealers wanted $7995 over MSRP in CA

I am 5'8' and my teenagers do not have much legroom in back. The back seat is not very comfortable, weirdly shaped. The front seats are comfortable. The base stereo is quite nice sounding with all types of music. Love the stereo controls on the steering wheel. Cruise control is well laid out. The handling is totally awesome especially after you dump the run-flats and get real tires with a compressor/repair kit. The acceleration pushes you back in your seat above 3000RPM. Shifts like a dream. Clutch has very nice feel. Parks in the tiniest spots. Once I found Nick Alexander BMW/Mini the service has been very good. The other two dealers I dealt with in the LA area left very much to be desired. Power steering pump went out about 15000 miles, top was replaced due to rubbing marks from being too tight. There was a rattle in the roof bracket above my window. Were some trim problems. Nick Alexander took care of them all under warranty without any BS. LOVE DRIVING MY MINI!!!

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

    Pros: Handling

    Cons: cup holders

Advice: I reccomend the mini cooper, especially the S!!!!

I enjoyed the test drive so much I had to buy a mini. The mini handles so well. It truly makes driving fun. The only hard part is, even after I reach my destination, I want to keep driving. I always want to drive my mini, it defines the word fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

    Pros: handling in corners.

Cons: the dirt catching rear end.

Advice: Buy it now and go with the 'S'. You won't be disappointed.

This car is pure fun and pizazz. Cornering is like being on railroad tracks. There is very little body roll or sway. Fuel economy is 28-34 based on how sporty your driving style is. Sound system is very clear. Plenty of passing power even in tight spots. Seats are very firm, so bumpy roads are a problem. I live in northern New Hampshire and the S doesn't like frost heaves at all. Get the bonnet bra to protect the front end from chipping. It's a lot cheaper ($99, then the special clear coat for $450. Great little car. Wish I had purchased it sooner.

    2005 MINI Cooper S - Hatchback

    Pros: Handling

    Cons: Dealer Location (100+miles)

    Advice: Replace the Run Flats

The ride is fairly stiff...the way I like it. Handling is great, excelleration is good (OK, I came from a BMW M Roadster). Shifter is good. Fun car to drive, reliable. Only bad things: Dealer location and tire life.
