Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: It hugs the curves nicely and easy to handle.
Cons: Low profile is not so great on it during the winter months. The Mini is a dream car, good gas mileage, sporty, and can even fit grown men in the back seat! Though it was funny watching them get out. If you put snow tires on, it handles the winter roads great.
Over 400 miles to a tank of gas!!!
Pros: Free maintenance for the first 3 years!
Cons: could have a better stereo speakersLove the milage I am getting commuting to and from work every day. I laugh all the way to the gas pump at all of the SUV's with one person driving. I love the free maintenance schedule that comes with the new vehicle.
Cute but Hard
Cons: rideI fell in love with its looks and loved its handling. I learned to hate its hard ride. The non-synchromesh rear gear was a frequent irritation. It needed the 6-speed transmission that the new ones have.
Cons: they did not give me sup/brakes/w/worksmy only complaint I got the works they for got to put on super brakes by the time I discovered that I did not have them 2 years had pass so I was a little piss off so I will not buy my next one there. i
Pros: The overall gestalt of the thing.
Cons: Run flat tires are very expensive and don't wear too well - but certainly grip and go.The MINI S is both way hot and way cool, a banger and a pleasure car, my truck for hauling (on the sturdy and cute roof rack and in the back (seats down). Good sound system, often playing very loud. Would be a chick magnet if I were 40 years younger, I think. Even so it's a head turner, and really impresses my grandkids. Seems very well made, solid and sturdy after six years with no problems. Handles as well as any car I've driven, including some fairly big guys. But hate the run flats. I'd trade some handling for high end conventional tires and a 'canned air' flat fixer.
I have my dream car!! Love her!
Pros: Convertible sports car
Cons: No navigation or bluetoothThe first time I saw a Mini Cooper I wanted one. Never thought I would be able to get one. I love driving my mini. She has good pickup, and since I have a convertible, when I am stressed I put the top down and all my troubles blow away. I smile a lot these days.
High maintenance after first three years.
Pros: Quick and easy to drive. Supercharger is great, but gas mileage is low, almost the same as my wife's cross over.
Cons: High vibrationAlthough there is no maintenance costs for the first three years, the maintenance schedule is little and far between. Oil is changed once a year or whenever the mileage count down indicates. The placement of the air conditioner is low in the engine compartment where road grim and water spray affects the switch that engages the high speed fan causing the fan to cycle on and off every minute or so. I've chnaged my system three times since I've owned my Mini. Further the road noise it transmitted into the passenger compartment to a much greater extent than other vehicles. The vibration through the suspension causes damage as well. I've had to replace my motor mounts, and either due to mechanic error or excessive vibration, the oil receptical where the filter is attached cracked. The could have been due to mechanic error as it only began after I had an oil change. Replacing the motor mounts and correcting the oil leak was in the $4000 range. Finally, Mini of Hawaii doesn't have a viewing area so you can watch what the mechanics are doing, so you don't have an opportunity to watch them put minor scratches and dings in the car as they work. They do road test, but they must really drive hard because I've picked up my car only to notice new checks in the edges of my rims. The car is very hard on tires. I' tend to change my tires every 8 months. The act of tire changing is another problem as they always scratch my rims. That has lead to a secondary business of rim repair.
