The Mini is not only fun but extremely crashworthy
Pros: The interior and exterior styling of the car
Cons: Glove compartment does not lockI was recently in a bad accident in my Mini. Thanks to the car, I was uninjured. The frame was not even bent, even though I was smashed between a Buick LeSabre and a Ford Crown Victoria. The airbags and restraint system are very good, and the frame is very rigid and strong. In my opinion, it's the most fun you can buy for the money. Headroom and legroom galore.
2009 R57 Mini Coopeer S Convertible
Pros: Convertible Top
Cons: Lack of Quality ControlGreat gas mileage verses performance. Rides reasonably well for such a small car. Wind control for top-down riding is very impressive. Handles well and is fun to drive. Performs equally well as a touring or 'around town car.' Frustrating operating controls even after a year of use. BMW quality control is lacking: fuel pump failure right after car was driven off the showroom floor; engine sounds like a diesel truck on cold startup; seatbelt will no longer retract, and the center console is broken.
Pros: handling, gas mileage
Cons: umm still thinking
Advice: Try it you will like it.The comfort of the ride is similar to my bosses Caddy. Multiple people can ride in this car and be comfortable.
Pros: Vehicle appearance & appeal.
Cons: Car just begs to be driven.
Advice: Push BMW to give mini its 100,000 mile warranty.AT 80,000 miles car was making a funny noise. Took a while to find cause: bearings on flywheel failed, damaging CVT trans. Even though it should not have happened, it was an expensive repair. Give Mini credit for picking up 60% of the bill, even though car was out of warranty. Other than basic maint. & tires, no other issue. Dealership has been superb.
Pros: Other drivers faces and watching people watch me whip into a mini parking space. Once they applauded.
Cons: Trying to get 3 people into the vehicle
Advice: Don't leave home without oneEnded my 36 mo lease on a 2004 Pepper White Black Top Mini and drove off in a 2006 Blue with Silver Top. Braman Motors in W Palm Beach, FL has a fantastic service center. You wouldn't believe the stuff my wife and I have put into the car with the rear seats down. Its a wonderfully driving car for one or two people.
Advice: Just do your research before going to the dealership or they will really take advantage of you. Also if you are young like I am, you may want to take your parents with you. This was the first time I went to any dealership, and I was looking for an upgrade from my 1994 Chevrolet Beretta. The first time I test drove the Mini I was hooked. Very roomy for a small car and although I'm not a fan of leather seats, I found them to be very comfortable. The car I test drove was the car I ended up purchasing. This car has a great resale value even though I plan on keeping mine forever! The handling is wonderful, the ride is smooth, and when I drive mine I feel like I am driving a go-kart. Very tight steering and cuts corners nicely. My last car was a 6 cylinder, but my mini can keep up just as good and gets great gas mileage. I find it perfect for my college/work lifestyle. The monthly payments are also very affordable.
Pros: Handling is incredible
Cons: Honestly, not being able to drive it more and further
Advice: DO NOT test drive unless you are ready to buy one !!!!The only reason I gave a 4 for performance is I got the Mini Cooper, not the S, for gas mileage. Words cannot describe how much FUN they are to drive. You cannot even feel the automatic CVT transmission shift unless you watch the tach. You can actually get the gas mileage they claim, sometimes even better. Leaving the house was never so much fun. Well, got to go get something at the store. Probably somewhere as far as possibe. TOO MUCH FUN FOR ONE CAR!!
