Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: superchsrger and stereoquick and attractive
Pros: You can always see through the top with the sunroof closed.
Cons: No leg room in the backseat. It is not a problem for me because my three dogs ride in the back.
Advice: Go for it! You won't regret it. It's a very solid car.(BMW)Handles great and is a fun car to drive.Very comfortable seats in town and on the road.Great stereo system and CD player.I have owned my 2004 Mini for nine months and have never had a problem.(4,000 miles)
Cons: needs upgraded interior, looks cheap
Advice: makes a great second carAfter driving the MINI for a little over 1 year (26K miles), it has lived up to my expectations. Great handling, great looks and really fun to drive. I haven't suffered any mechanical problems like some other owners and I have had reasonable service. My dealer hours are 8-5, but they try to be helpful. Downside is the car has developed some rattles that I believe are associated with the very stiff suspension. I also wonder about the long term reliability of the vehicle. Only time will tell. 2003 MINI Cooper S, all factory accessories.
Pros: The way it took corners.
Advice: Don't buy the CVT.Was great to drive. Perfect for large cities. However, do not get the automatic (CVT). At 4500 had a new transmission put in. Took to the dealership 3 times with more transmission issues. Finally sold it last month.
Pros: Handling, shifting, available lux features
Cons: Quality and hopeless dealer service
Advice: Avoid, especially if you don't live within walking distance of the dealer.Brilliantly engineered.. but poorly built, with pathetic service. Everybody falls in love with this car.. I did too, but I'm stunned at how often it needs service, usually with repeat visits to continue attempting to remedy things that NEVER go wrong in other cars.. ie: Seat squeeks, steering column clicking, windows that smear from innards of the doors, easily dented bodywork (don't laugh... I've owned 13 cars in my life, and this thing dents if you look at it) etc. With 6000 miles, it's been in the shop 8 times in one year. The car drives brilliantly, and the size is perfect, so are the cupholders (which many moan about- duh!) but it's got the build quality of a '70s Fiat. There are dynamic virtues to this car, but everybody I know that has one has had a plethora of problems. Too bad. The world needs efficient, cool cars to blow the SUVs out of the water.. but this car is my greatest purchasing mistake.
