Cons: BMW-like dealer prices
Advice: Go for it!!! also..opt for the sport package with DSCAmazing car! As a certified car nut I followed the development of the 'new' Mini for years. I was on my way home from work when I stopped in to the dealership...30 minutes later I left a deposit and the rest is history. This car is incredible...I had some minor troubles-the infamous airbag light coming on...about 5 attempts to fix...but true to BMW quality a service bulletin came out to replace the wiring harness under the passenger seat...so far,so good-no more trouble. I also notice-maybe my own paranoia that some SUV & minivan drivers like to try to muscle me out on the road... All in all it's been a fun 2 1/2 years with Mini... A word to the wise..definitely get the Sport Package which contains the famous BMW DSC-Dynamic Stability Control...has to be tried to realize how this little device will literally 'save the bacon'!
Pros: Styling and driving it.
Cons: Cleaning brake dust off the wheels.
Advice: Check out the sport seats, they really are more comfortable.I have owned mine for about four months and have had no problems. The car is incredibly fun to drive. It truly has go kart type handling, and has more than adequate power. Fit and finish are excellent. The engine loves to rev, and is happiest at 3000 to 6000 rpm. Ride is firm and a little bumpy on concrete freeways. However, on asphalt roads, ride is comfortable. Dealer marked car up slightly but included paint treatment and lojack. I was lucky enough to walk in to dealer, and buy it--had choice of two. Basicly, I cannot say enough good things about this car.
Pros: Looks, and Cooper emblem
Cons: The 3 week wait
Advice: BUY ITI test drove the cooper and the cooper s. I ordered the cooper and it will be here in 3 weeks!!! If I wanted yellow, I could have drove away right there! Just a heads up - Silk green in Not available in 2003, they are replacing it with gold, so if you want it, they are going fast! I ordered Silk green with black roof and mirrors. I am so excited, I have driven the test car 3 times! I paid sticker price with no markup, so look around if you find dealers gouging. It's easy to buy cars out of state now, with only one trip to the dealer, and some dealers deliver for a fee, so something to look into if your dealer is tacking on a crazy amount. You can also track your car on Miniusa.com if you ordered one. I cant wait for mine to get here, and an extra perk is I am a huge Alice Cooper fan, so what better car to own? LOL
Pros: the navigation
Cons: the rear seats
Advice: buy itThe car is very powerfull but i think it could use a few more horses for going up hill. It is a very simple and practical car that is worth every penny
Pros: Navigation Control
Cons: Some plastic components on the dash.
Advice: If you want fun this is the car for you.If you want to get looks, buy a Mini Cooper. Not only is it a unique look, but it is a blast to drive. It handles like a dream, has a great warranty, and it is fun, fun, fun. It is backed by BMW quality. Outstanding car.
Advice: Buy itIts a MINI
Advice: put one in storage for your kids (in case they don't make them anymore in a few years.I test drove both models. Settled for the regular Cooper. Found it powerfull enough for the speed limits we have to abide to. I lived in Europe for 16 years till 1973 and remember well (nostalgically) the early versions. Some uninformed and younger people that have never been exposed to the ultimate Mini experience of back then can just look at this new version that I consider outstanding and totally miss the excitement. Fine. But I get the impression that lots of others will get it and will not miss the opportunity to again enjoy this wonderfull car. The quality and price are in sinc. It is that evident.
