    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.0L V6 Luxury (110A) 4x2

    Pros: Durability

    Cons: cloth seats

Advice: I would chose leather seats rather than cloth in the future.

My two youngs sons & myself were in a serious car accident this week in our 2003 Mountaineer after being broadsided by another vehicle. We rolled over three times & landed on the driver's side. I came out with only a slight concussion and both my boys came out without a scratch. Unfortunately, our Mercury Mountaineer cannot be salvaged, but I feel that it saved us from serious injury. I definitely give 'two thumbs up' for this SUV!

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.6L V8 Premier (125A) 4x2

    Pros: The ride.

    Cons: Gas mileage.

Advice: Compare. Shop around for the best price. They come standard with a lot of features.

I bought this vehicle used this year. I love all the amenities it has and the smooth ride. I was able to maneuver the controls in one day and it is very convenient to be able to adjust my temperature or change my station with the controls right on the steering wheel. I love the way the seat remembers my setting and how the seat automatically goes back when you turn the key off. I have not had a new vehicle in over 10 years and I am so happy with this one.

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.6L V8 Premier (325A) AWD

    Pros: Price

    Cons: Seats

Advice: Go for top of the line Mountaineer other wise you will have boring and drab vehicle!

This is good solid value vehicle. The layout is very old tech and needs updated. The V8 power is the only way to go as v6 motor is very under powered. The worst thing about the Mountaineer is that it's a very average vehicle and doesn't really offer too much excitement.

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.6L V8 Premier (125A) 4x2

Pros: I love it all! Autiophile system

Cons: Being at the gas station as often as i am

Advice: Take your time to research the options and packages you want (there's so many) and call around to as many dealerships as possible to find the best price

Going from a sports car to this suv wasn't quite as difficult as it should have been. It handles increadibly well, except that it has a tendancy to fish tail on tight corners in the rain. The lower center of gravity and the independent rear suspension make for a wonderfully smooth journey...even on Louisianna interstates! They have also seemed to think of everything when it came to safety (Security Group package). And with the audiophile stereo, I don't have to re-do or upgrade anything! I am so happy with my purchase decission, and so glad i didn't decide to get another small sports car!

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.0L V6 Convenience (300A) AWD

    Pros: All Wheel Drive handling

Cons: None. Vehicle far exceeded expectations.

Advice: Test drive and your purchase decision will be clear.

Local Lincoln-Mercury dealer provided new 2003 Mountaineer AWD to take home and test drive for two days. Power, performance, acceleration, safety systems, braking, steering, handling, ride comfort, noise levels, and overall driveability outstanding. Two options on vehicle: running boards and class III trailer towing package.

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer - 4.6L V8 Luxury (315A) AWD

    Pros: Handling

    Cons: Can't say

Advice: Check the rubber-Merc' has gone to SUV tires as production continued.

32,000 miles in the first year of ownership...does what's asked of it and looks good while doing it. Easy to keep clean, great long-distance runner yet easy to handle in urban settings. Great sound system, ample power from the new 4.6 with expected fuel consumption. This one was put together correctly. Original Goodyear passenger type tires were replaced with Michelin SUV rubber which corrected the earlier problems of a rough and uncertain handling ride. Dealership tries hard to please. This one is a keeper!
