2003 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class - CL55 AMG
Pros: Synthesis of speed and refinement
Cons: Needs a built-in holder for sunglasses (my useless Jaguar had it
Advice: Worth the price.Lightning-speed at nearly 500 horses (the CL55); way too fast for what I need here in congestion-bound Washington DC. But I saw a CL 500 driving down the street last fall, and it was the most beautiful thing on wheels that I have ever seen. So, true-to-form, I went to the Mercedes dealer, and bought myself the CL55. (Why not have power AND beauty?). If you love class, speed, quality, cornering, and have a bit over $120,000 to spare, buy this car! It is the most fun I have ever had in a car since my 1965 Comet convertible (and that was a heck of a long time ago). But the CL55 is at the same time 'classy' enough to be seen in by your Board of Directors. Then to pass them. Quickly. A well-appointed car, tons of neat gadgets, great high-quality leather, and back seats that evan adults could use in a pinch. The back seat works for my baby/toddler seat; a normal-weight adult back there would be squished a bit but OK in a short trip.
