    2004 Mazda RX-8 - Sport Automatic (A4)

Pros: Automatic trans performance programing and the car's behavior in heavy traffic.

Cons: Warm up cycle requirements and small gas tank.

Advice: Recognize that the RX-8 is a true sports car.

The combination of the sport package with automatic trans makes for a great performing daily driver. Programing in the drive selection allows two gear down shifts and a whole lotta zoom zoom. Although aceleration is not on a 350Z level, it is definitely a very adequate and fun performer. The handling however is on a par with Porsche and may be the best all around performing car I have ever driven. Fit and finish is impecable and absent of any defects. A whole lotta car for the best price on the market.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: It's handling

Cons: The engine must be warm before shutting down.

Advice: It's a great car. I think the best I've ever driven.

I bought this car for my wife, however I took this car up through some winding roads in Northern California this last weekend and had a blast. This car corners like a dream. My friend says it corners better then his Porsche 930. The gas mileage is not good. And the car must be warm before you can turn it off, making it a pain to just back it out of the garage to wash. But the back seat can sit an adult OK. Also, the trunk is big enough for the groceries. Overall it's a fun car that turns heads and can be used as a everyday car. It's also a car you don't see all over the place.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: Just about everything

Cons: Gas milage and air conditioning

    Advice: BUY!!!!

The most fun I've ever had driving. I've had two different models of RX-7's and this is much more fun to drive than they were. This car gets more looks and wow's than any car I've ever had.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

Pros: Exterior design, strong, smooth ride.

Cons: Reduced trunk room when spare tire.

Advice: Drive it, let it sink in, test drive other cars, go back and make a deal on the RX, 6-speed.

What a great ride! Smooth, quick, comfortable and what a beauty. Try 3rd or 4th gear at 5000 rpm and feel the torque, what a gas. Great headroom for front and back passengers. Freestyle doors provide easy access to the back, even for those not vertically challenged. Was concerned about the 18 miles per gallon at first, but after 1,800 miles, the pleasure I get from this car, I'm satisfied with whatever mileage the RX gets. It does better if you drive easy. Hard to tell when you're at 5,000-7,000 rpm because the rotary is so smooth and quiet. Corners flat, brakes quick. Daily commute. Controls all in the right places. Bought in July, and absolutely no problem with starting or warm up time. Almost no oil consumption after 1,800 miles.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: FreeStyle Rear Doors

    Cons: Cup Holder location

Advice: Buy a radar detector, this vehicle loves to be driven fast

I own a brilliant red manual. The 6-speed short throw stick is a thrill to drive. The RX-8 is a fantastic sports car but it is also a good daily driver. I have seen many complaints about having to run premium gasoline and add oil. I run regular gas and I am only adding oil about ever 1000 miles. Per owner manual and my previous experience with Rotary motors, they have always used some oil. I am in love with this car and I look forward to driving it every day.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

Pros: Love the doors and back seating area. Handling is super. Beautiful lines.

    Cons: Gas mileage is poor.

Advice: If you love to drive and don't worry about the price of gas, this is your car!

Great handling and braking. Power is good at high RPM, average at low RPM. Keep it rev'ed!

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - Sport Automatic (A4)

    Pros: Styling

    Cons: Gas Mileage

Advice: I would wait until the '05 model is released to see if the many issues are corrected.

Fantastic styling but the A/T version's performance is sub-par. Gas milage is very poor on some cars (including mine 13/19). The HVAC blower motor is very, very loud. Several other problems have appeared over 6 months of ownership (door rattles, A/C issue, arm rest broke, etc.). Mazda is actively working on some issues as the many ECU programming changes that have been released will attest. For the price paid, the build quality is sub-par.
