    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: The safety features.

    Cons: The cheap plastic parts.

    Advice: Great performance

I owned this vehicle from July 2003-Sept 2004 (R.I.P.). I was very happy with the way it drove. Some plastic interior parts are cheaply put together and easily scratched. Had to have Mazda replace Gearshift due to the plastic rotary design cracking and falling off. Other then that the safety of this vechicle is incredible! I was hit from a red light runner on driver side and both airbags deployed saving my life. The lady hit me going approximatly 46mph. I highly reccomend the car if not for looks and performance but safety as well. I am living proof!

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: Handling

    Cons: Gas mileage

Advice: Get the 'red' - very cool paint!!!

Test drove this and the car I THOUGHT I loved (Infinit G35 coupe) the same day, it was a no-brainer. RX-8 fit like a GLOVE from minute one. Constantly thinking of excuses to drive mine! High points are the confidence-inspiring handling, exterior looks awesome, interior super-cool and comfy, feels easy to drive fast. Get the 'red' - I think they call it 'Velocity Mica Red,' but it is a SUPER-COOL & VERY metallic pearl red (3-stage paint). Beautiful paintjob w/ real 'depth,' may be the prettiest paint I've ever seen. Low points are gas mileage, esp. with gas going through the roof. Avg. 18mpg with heater off, about 16-17 with heater on, and it requires premium. Not for the financially-challenged...

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

Pros: Smooth Shifter, Bose Stereo, Engine, Shinka Limited Availability

Cons: Hard to keep it clean. Gas mileage. But who cares? It's a sports car!

Advice: Just drive and you will see for yourself.

I have the Shinka Special Edition and I must say that this is the best car I have ever driven in my life! Bad thing is, I can't go anywhere without getting a bit too much attention. I don't think this will end, because the interior and exterior are jus gorgeous. The car handles like a champ and the ride is much smoother than anticipated.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: Style

Cons: Not a good snow car

Advice: Drive it and you will fall in love. Make sure you test drive it on a road with lots of curves.

Bought it for my wife but I can't stay out of it. I am 56 and feel like 20 when I'm drivibg it. Got the manual 6 speed GT with all options, nav ect. Velocity Red with the red/black leather. If gas milage is a concern, don't buy it. I am getting between 18 and 21 mpg overall. This is with 3000 miles on the car. If you are getting worse then it's either your driving habits or you need to get it looked at.

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - 6 Speed Manual (M6)

    Pros: Usable back seats!

Cons: Fuel Efficiancy, perhaps trunk space. Yes, I know, it's a SPORTS CAR.

Advice: Learn to check the oil, be prepared for the questions everywhere you go!

Fantastic car! It just begs you to drive it! It's even fun at City Street speeds, although bumpy roads will be noticed. Easily takes corners at 20-25mph without any drama! Wish the MPG was a bit higher, but I knew what I was getting into before I bought mine. The trunk holds my 'big' golf bag and the umbrella stroller for my son. People are always amazed to see the car seat in the back. Married women think I am a bad influance for their husbands who weren't allowed to buy sports cars for the 'Children's sake' 'He's got one, and a car seat in the back...'

    2004 Mazda RX-8 - Sport Automatic (A4)

    Pros: The handling and engine.

Cons: Trunk space. (I know, it's a sports car.)

Advice: It is not built to be a drag racer. The corners are where the RX-8 shines.

A refined sports car. Excellent handling, great features and the zoom-zoom rotary engine make driving this car a truely great experience. The RX-8 is by no means a Mercedes or BMW so don't expect to be pampered. The interior is comfortable, functional and pleasing to the eye. The ride is not EVO, STI or 350z harsh, but firm enough that you wish the city would fix their streets! With the almost 50/50 weight distribution, the RX-8 is one of the most neutral handling cars on the market. Turn-in is fast and you can steer the car through corners using the throttle. The great rotary exhaust tone is there without being obnoxiuos. Even after six months it still leaves a smile on my face every time I drive it.
