    2003 Mazda MPV - LX

Pros: sporty look, fairly priced, visibility

Cons: gearshift, becoming a tad small

Advice: shop around. Caution with recent consumer report on the MPV

Excellent handling...looks sporty...What's with the gearshift? It is right in the way of dashboard controls. Otherwise it has been a capable vehicle. It is becoming a bit cramped now that our kids are getting bigger. Overall, we are pleased.

    2003 Mazda MPV - LX

Pros: Vehicle footprint about the same as a standard sedan.

Cons: Mediocre gas mileage. 22 mpg highway at 70mph with a load.

Advice: Good alternative to Odyssey and Sienna.

Nice car. Reasaonably quiet. Excellent visibility. Steering a little soft. After only 2 weeks had to have car serviced to address a warning light. Needed to reprogram the control software. Interior and dash controls nicely designed.

    2003 Mazda MPV - LX

    Pros: Handling

Cons: no power driver's seat in LX

Advice: Get the LX with features you only need...ES can get $$$$

Wife and I researched minivans before buying and due to Chrysler's poor reputation, Honda's 'perceived' reliability(that you pay through the nose for), and with Toyota's quality in question(wife's co. is a supplier). We went with the MPV, a smaller and better priced alternative to those big honking vans. Fords Windstar was not considered either because it has had problems too. Even though I like Ford. Kia? No thanks. The MPV handles well and is loaded with cool features the others charge you for. Go for it if size is not the most important feature.

    2003 Mazda MPV - LX

    Pros: Exciting styling-speed yellow!

Cons: No adjustable headrest for rear passengers

Advice: buy the side curtain airbags-well worth the cost

Acceleration on v-6 is great, goes great with 5-speed auto. Bose sound system couldn't be better.
