4-Millionth Mazda3 Manufactured Last Month
Mazda passed a notable new milestone with its compact entry in January, when a 2014 Mazda Mazda3 became the 4-millionth model from the family to roll down the production line. Now, we are talking about global sales here, but it's still an impressive achievement, with Mazda3 No. 4 million coming just about 10 years and seven months after the first production model was built. In fact, based on those numbers, the Mazda3 has gotten to the 4-million-unit mark faster than any previous entry from the brand.
Certainly helping matters, the 2014 Mazda Mazda3 is sold in more than 120 countries and regions around the world, and it's so popular that it accounts for about 30 percent of total Mazda sales each year. Execs also naturally point to the brand's SKYACTIV powertrain and chassis technologies as key factors in the sales success of the current, third-gen Mazda3. While still delivering the nimble handling and zoomy driving experience one expects from a Mazda, those components help owners achieve EPA marks of up to 30 mpg city/41 mpg highway/34 mpg combined in the sedan model.
